Introduction/Brief Profile

TeamLNNAIS resonates in 2018. As the calendar dates progressed from January to December, the same precision in the conduct of training and assessment to all clients from different sectors were extended. Trainings and assessments soar in the province of Lanao del Norte among the twenty-two municipalities which focus was given more in the Agriculture sector with other support programs. LNNAIS in 2018 is also into Green Initiatives. The maiden program was presented during the Agri-TVET Forum held last November 7, 2018 in Baybay campus participated by farm school operators, 4H Club representatives and partners of the academe. I. TESD Policy Services The re-crafting of the institution’s Mission, Vision and Goals are tailored to claim relevance in nation building as services are dispensed within the Technical Education and Skills Development Plan, seventeen-point TESDA Reform Agenda and the three-pronged directions: TVET for global competitiveness, TVET for social equity and TVET for job-readiness. LNNAIS in all consciousness is ultimately conscientious in drawing up a clear picture on where it is going through the Institutional Development Plan that captures the agency mandate; and is progressing through revisions and re-planning. These two

diploma level V programs

commenced on June 25, 2018

with twenty-five pioneer students

for each program on free tuition basis, and even the training

materials and use of facilities and equipment,

as well as support facilities.

The offered programs and qualifications helped out in the attainment of targets. The conduct of trainings with the DWSD-SLP beneficiaries constitute the biggest output share. Interior municipalities were explored to heighten trainings in Animal Production (Poultry-Chicken) NC II, Animal Production (Ruminants) NC II and Food Processing NC II. Above table presents the EGACE output for all training delivery modes.

Table Egg Production Enthuse Farmers The making of livelihood in the remote areas remains a remarkable experience. Implementation of poultry projects were challenging and rewarding too. Testimonies gathered are heartwarming when trainees shared plans for sustainability and economic augmentation. Barangay Cabasaran of Poona Piagapo, and so do with Paridi, Masibay and Abaga of Nunungan Lanao del Norte were provided with solar panels in the absence of commercial electricity connections.

Farm Production Surplus Turned Processed Food

Marketing of farm produce may be tough for farmers especially in surplus. LNNAIS encouraged farmers to make money from their excess harvest and upgrade farm products into processed foods.

Dressmakers as Toga Production Crews

Dressmaking NC II Trainees proudly modeled their own output in a community-based training conducted in Malingao, Tubod, Lanao del Norte. Some of them did assist in the production of toga, graduation caps and stole sets. LNNAIS entry to the selection of a regional ID stole proposed by Ms. Twinkle N. Enyong, Instructor I hits a majority vote; and their goes Regional Director Tarhata S. Mapandi proudly showing off the sample like a pro during her surprise visit.

Success Stories

My Journey Begins with a Stitch by Erica P. Maglasang, Dressmaking NCII Graduate Before I took up Dressmaking NCII, I thought that it was easy and that sewing clothes can be achieved without any great effort. Like most people, I thought that sewing skill equates sewing machine operation know-how wherein you just operate the machine with a piece of fabric and viola… you become a certified sewer/ sewist. I was so wrong!

Dressmaking NII Training Last March 2017, my church-mate and education-advocate Ms. Cherry Marie Paclipan persuaded me to add Sewing to my domestic skills. She told me about the benefits and challenges of making garments. Though she forewarned that there is a level of difficulty in the Dressmaking NCII course, my mind concluded that it would be EASY. (During that time, I weighed 68 kilos.)

The first two weeks was tough… really tough. The first task of the course smashed my word Easy in a matter of seconds. My perspective on the sewing machine changed in a snap. Before, I thought of it as a simple home appliance but during my training, it became a power tool.

As more complicated tasks were given as exercises, I could say that things become enticingly arduous especially in Patternmaking. The concepts were difficult to grasp at first but once you get the hang of those ideas, you want the knowledge to keep coming in. I was enlightened that this course applied mathematical concepts in geometry to make beautiful and wearable art. Patternmaking gave me the mental stimulation I needed to challenge myself. When you used a variety of rulers to form lines on paper and made a blueprint for a dress with specific numerical data, you would felt smart. When you apply Pythagorean Theorem in drafting a sleeve, you would really felt smarter. Numbers, accuracy, stress and a lot of sweat were always anticipated as our class underwent pressure tests in patternmaking. Two weeks of this activity resulted to a weight of 66

kilos (but honestly I was unconscious of the 2 kilos weight loss because I had a good appetite for food). Basic sewing was also a challenge as 3 units of core competencies was devoted to it. The activities involved allowed me to be immersed in the physics of sewing and raised my confidence level as I made wearable pieces that actually fit. As I gained the must-know sewing techniques, my weight was down to 64 kilos. By the end of the training, I gained the knowledge, skills and proper attitude which helped me in passing the Dressmaking National Assessment Level II.

School-based Internship Program. Due to family circumstances, I was unable to do my Dressmaking internship at Mepzah, Cebu City. I was fortunate though that LNNAIS allowed me to be part of their school-based internship program by June 2017 for at least 240 hours. My patternmaking and sewing skills leveled up as I tackled projects such as chair covers, uniforms for FBS NCII and Housekeeping NCII, school uniforms for nursery kids.

Teaching Stint When the Massive Skills Training Program for Marawi IDP was implemented by third quarter of 2017, the school tapped me to be one of the Junior Instructors for Dressmaking NCII. Also earlier this year 2018, I was fortunate to handle two batches of STEP schlars for Dressmaking NCII (Community-based Training).

Looking back, had I refused to make that first stitch… I would not be where I needed to be. TESDA-LNNAIS taught me to be brave in taking actions to achieve my dreams. Hope after Vinta The conduct of Meat Processing training to the eighty-three (83) Vinta victims in Dalama, Tubod, Lanao del Norte on January 10-15, 2018. A simultaneous training on Produce Organic Vegetable was also participated by another group of fifty-five trainees.

On April 12, 2018, LNNAIS spearheaded the Graduation Ceremony with Salvador Trade School, Mercy Junior College and LSSTI for the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP). RD Tarhata S. Mapandi graced the occasion.

Another STEP graduation was held on June 11, 2018. Congressman Abdullah D. Dimaporo of the 2nd District of Lanao del Norte pushed for employment of the graduates. With full support, the lady Directors Tarhata S. Mapandi and Norayah A. Acas, Regional and Provincial Directors respectively joined the good congressman.

FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATION December 14, 2018, TESDA – LNNAIS commemorate the founder’s day celebration. In remembrance of the late Hon. Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza, who initialize the creating of LANAO NORTE NATIONAL AGRO-INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL. Mr. Marcelo Lagunsad talked about a brief history of TESDA – LNNAIS. According to the history, LANAO NORTE NATIONAL AGRO-INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL formerly LANAO NORTE PROVINCIAL HIGH SCHOOL, Bualan, Tubod, Lanao del Norte was established in June, 1973 under the initiative of the late Honorable Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza under the Provincial funding. The operation of the said high school started with 93 First Year students and four teachers. The high school was nationalized through the effort of Congressman Abdullah D. Dimaporo by passing a Bill to the Congress on March 25,1992 under the Batas Pambansa Blg. 213 making the school into a National high school. The school acquired 20.45 hectares of school site through government reservation. It was surveyed in July 21,1921 and was approved on December 31,1921 in the name of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte for the Bureau of Education. In the school year 1985-1986, the school opened annex classes in barangay Pualas of the same town, 14 kilometers away from the main school, realized through the efforts of the late Gov. Arsenio A. Quibranza.

The short program was made through the effort of the student body headed by JK Maglasang and Winkler Chaves, student from DAT, DABET, Food Processing NC II under UAQTEA and 92 senior high school from Dalama National High School, Bansarvil National High School, and Arsenio Quibranza National High-School who show case their talent like singing and dancing during the event. They also prepared a lunch for everybody. Indeed, it was a successful celebration for LNNAIS! Big 5S day On April 30, 2018, the LNNAIS Bualan Main Campus brought the consciousness to all trainees to have a date with 5S. During the opening program, 5S concepts and principles of good housekeeping was presented and tasks were assigned. Boodle fight follows after the sweaty day.

Gender and Development Ms. Cherry Marie C. Paclipan as GAD Focal and Jasmine C. Galenzoga as Financial Analyst of LNNAIS attended the Reconciliation-Work shop on the revised 2019 GAD Plan and Budget and Preparation of 2018 GAD Accomplishment Report on December 19-20, 2018 at Philtown Hotel, Cagayan De Oro City conducted by TESDA 10. The 1st day of the workshop includes Preparation/presentation of 2018 GAD Accomplishment Report, Reconciliation workshop on 2019 GAD Plan and Budget vis-à-vis PCW template presented by Elaine B. Borromeo, RO GAD Focal The orientation workshop on Gender Analysis was facilitated by Miraluna B. Lopez, Vice Chair, GFPS Execom. Series of topics

were presented like OUs 5% GAD Budget Allocation given by Cleofe Z. Cortejos, AO V/ Budget Officer III and Appreciation of COA Circular No. 2014-00, Audit of GAD Fund and Checklist of common audit observation in GAD Funds and Activities were discussed by Ms. Lonie B. Gonzaga, Co-Chair- GFPS- TWG.

During the workshop, attendees were able to understand key concepts, tools and steps of Gender Analysis using Sex Disaggregated data and submit the required output to the Regional GAD focal. The workshop reiterates that men and women should be given equal

opportunities in all project, program and activities in TESDA.

Another GAD activity during the Women’s Month celebration was a film viewing every Friday in the whole month of March 2018. Films depicting roles of men and women were viewed by trainees and staff.

What’s up DABET? One of the highlights of training in Land and Water Conservation Engineering, the Diploma in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (DABET) students conducted an on-site assessment in five locations of TESDA-LNNAIS Bualan Demo Farm to monitor the Infiltration Rate of

Rainfall in Brgy. Bualan. The infiltration rate is the velocity or speed at which water enters into the soil. It is usually measured by the depth (in mm) of the water layer that can enter the soil in one hour. An infiltration rate of fifteen (15) mm/hour means that a water layer of fifteen (15) mm on the soil surface will take one hour to infiltrate.

Five (5) groups were assigned in different locations and they were tasked to monitor the Infiltration rate within a span of fifteen (15) days using an Infiltration Meter made out of PVC pipe. This is the first time DABET conducted this activity. Power Up

For better service delivery through the conduct of training and assessment, LNNAIS finally had secured a set of transformers to power up equipment requiring big loads in Baybay Extension Campus. VSA Vicente E. Cruz witnessed the installation with the LANECO employees.

Bida ang Handa It takes teamwork to lower an injured person on a stretcher from a three-story building. Rain or shine. . . these guys made a safe rescue, indeed! This was done during the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2018 by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Team on June 21, 2018 in the bounds of LNNAIS Baybay campus.
