PERF Overview

The Petroleum Environmental Research Forum (PERF) is a research and development joint venture, formed to provide a stimulus to and forum for the collection, exchange, and analysis of research information relating to the development of technology for health, environment & safety, waste reduction and system security in the petroleum industry. PERF is a non-profit organization of Members which are corporations engaged in the petroleum industry that recognize the importance of a clean, healthy environment and are committed to supporting cooperative research and development. Highlights from the 96th PERF Fall Meeting:

The 96th PERF meeting was held October 31/November 1 and was hosted by Shell at their Technology Center in Houston, Texas. The meeting focused on waste management and handling. Day one of the meeting was focused on general HSE and specific waste challenges, such as oil cuttings discharge, stranded waste and mercury issues.

The second day focused on efficiencies, emerging/new solutions, and facility assurance, with presentations on water reuse, recycling of waste, spent catalyst management and understanding how waste moves through the system, with benchmarking survey results. The presentations are available on the members-only section of the PERF website.
