I think the most striking part of this picture is the fact Leonardo Dicaprio has a swan around his neck. Leonardo is a big environmentalist and the background reflects this well as he is situated in reeds. the fact that he is wearing black attracts the audiences attention on the swan as it stands out from the black background from his shirt. The swan around his neck also frames his body and they complement each other well. The background is simple and is like Leonardo is in the swans habitat. The rule of thirds is clearly used in this photo to draw attention to Leonardo Dicaprio’s face and in particular his eyes, this picture had direct address. The background is a narrow background and is also out of focus.

Annie Leibovitz is photographing Meryl Streep. In the image she is pulling at her face and she has over done grease paint. This is a metaphor and shows that Meryl Streep is a versatile actress. Her eyes are emphasised as there is less make up around the eye areas. The first thing you look at when seeing the picture is her eyes as there is direct address. Putting Meryl Streep in white stops the audience being distracted and attracts the focus on to the face. The lighting on the shot creates warmth. The main colours of the picture also adds warmth with white and brown. The way that the shot is close up is a emphasis on the face and the background is plain and dull to maximise the focus on her.

Annie has photographed the famous actress Cate Blanchett. The main emphasis of the picture is the faces Cate is pulling. Both of the images are close up and follow the rule of thirds once put together to complete the photograph. On the left there is direct address within this photograph but on the right there is none. There is a use of a simple background and clothing on both the left and the right. There is more light on the face on the left than the right, this shows the gloominess of the right image. This photograph emphasizes Cate’s different personalities. There is a broad depth of field and these images are used to illustrate articles in magazines.

In this photograph Annie Leibovitz has photographed Queen Elizabeth. In this image Queen Elizabeth is wearing a black cape with gold detail I think that this represents power and royalty. The Queen is staring directly into the camera lens which makes direct address to the audience. The background is a dull and dark forest, its very simple and doesn’t attract the audiences attention. This image has a broad depth of field as the whole image is in focus. This image is also really good quality. There is lots of light used but not too much but it is a very crisp and clear image.

It makes you know that she loves to work with him. This image is a mid shot and captures what they are doing with their hands. Also, Woody Allen is staring directly into the camera so the main focus would is on him as he’s making direct address. Then is would lead onto Penelope Cruz who is staring at him not the audience. The background is dark and simple and so are the clothes of the pair so most of the attention is drawn to the hands and faces of them. The image has a broad depth of field because it clearly captures everything in the frame. The lighting in this photo is rather low contrast and all of the colours are very subtle and are only black and grey.
