` Newsletter 25/2017 26 October 2017 Dear Parents, Guardians and Learners Term 3 reports were distributed to learners last week and many will be thrilled with their results, whereas others may have realised that there is still work to be done to achieve their goals before the end of the year. If your child falls in the latter category, there is still hope! Term 4 exams count 60% of the year marks for Grade 8 and 9 and 75% for Grade 10 and 11. Obviously, achieving the results you want in your final report is not going to be an easy task. You will not suddenly know all the content needed for success by chance. Plenty of hard work lies ahead of you and perseverance is key. John Quincy Adams said, Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish”. This means that you need to put in consistent effort, from now on, in order to give yourself the chance to turn things around. Those of you who were pleased with your marks from Term 3 know exactly what I am talking about, as you have worked consistently throughout the year. Abraham Lincoln said, Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing”. I encourage those learners who have achieved well to persist with their positive work ethic and to continue to give of their best. Ultimately your results are a reflection of attitude and work ethic; both essential qualities to equip you to cope with all that life throws at you. According to Jim Rohn who is a successful entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Resolve says, I will. The man says, I will climb this mountain. They told me it’s too high, too far, too steep, too rocky and too difficult. But it’s my mountain. I will climb it. You will soon see me waving from the top or dead on the side from trying.’” We are often told that we can do anything, which is true; you just have to work hard and put in the effort. I encourage you to keep striving with determination to complete the year on a positive note. Satisfaction comes from being able to say, I did my best!” Yours sincerely MRS J THOMSON GRADE 9 TUTOR
