Devanagri Charms denoting individual ‘letters’ ofthe phonetic Devanagri script are crafted in brilliant jewel like Meenakari colours. A series of charms of popular motifs like mangoes, lock and key, elephants and a ‘hawai chappal’ or slipper, accompany the alphabets to complete a bracelet or necklace. Netra refers to the ‘divine eye’ manifest in the enamel eyes adorning Indian Gods. The story of the Netra range is derived from one of the most famous temples of the Hindu mythology the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Lord Shiva, the presiding deity is believed to be Swayambhu, deriving currents of power (Shakti) from within itself as against the other lingams that are ritually invested with mantra-shakti. Anar or Pomegranate; symbolic of life, prosperity and fertility, has been a fruit of ancient Mesopotamia and Ayurveda medicinal remedies for thousands of years. Meticulously crafted by the Zardozi embroiderers of Banaras, the Anar range of hair ornaments are inspired by the cave paintings of Ajanta, using Anar as the symbolic centre of the range. Five ornaments; hairclips, to stick pins, clasps to hairbands as well as a clip are skilfully embellished with gold and shimmering silk threads for a stunning combination of tradition and contemporary elegance.
