Sound term test slide 1
This is how the character speaks and is used by the character to tell us where they are from. It will give us an idea of where the TV Drama might be set or it might point out that the character is an outsider and speaks differently to others. Accent
This refers to when the characters are talking to one another. This is used to create realism (as we talk in real life!) but also to help develop the plot and the storyline for the TV Drama Dialogue

This term is used when the tone of the sound doesn’t match the image on screen.
Asynchronous
This is when the use of a sound (either an instrumental sound or a sound effect) is carried over from one shot in one location or time period to another shot in a different location or time period.

Helps us to piece the narrative together (understand storyline)
Helps us to understand the characters and their relationships
It can make us form an emotional attachment with the programme (scare us, make us cry, make us angry)
