Analysis Of Questionnaire Answers

Page 2: Analysis of questionnaire graphs

I asked a total of 30 people to fill out my questionnaire and the questions were based around what people would want to read in the magazine, price and what kind of genre people are more interested in. I asked a total of 8 questions and the first 5 were closed and the last 3 were open questions. I used a mixture of open and closed questions to gain more accurate and specific results.

The open question I was not able to put into a graph as it was qualitative data and therefore not really measurable. However most people said they didn't read any music magazines and out of the ones that do the most read ones were NME and Kerrang. Question number 8 was “make up a name of a music magazine that you think is appealing”, most people answered this and just put some music names such as Jukebox, Buzz and mormusic. The name of the magazine will however not be decided through these suggestions because I don't feel they were strong and catchy enough. For the last question about the font most people chose the second font on the questionnaire however like the magazine name I will not be basing my font of the magazine by this questionnaire because i need to go with something that suits grime music.

What is your gender?

For this question more than half of the people I asked were female. More than 3 quarters of people asked were aged 16-20. I ranged the ages of people I asked because I wanted reliable and valid results so asking a variety of ages was helpful in doing that. Having most of the people being this ages means that my magazine will have to be quite youthful as the genre of music chosen wouldn’t attract people older than 25. There was almost an equal amount of men and women who answered the questions therefore it doesn’t really effect the make of the magazine because I will make it unisex rather than more male based or female based.

How old are you?

What is your preferred genre of music?

The chosen genre of music was grime music followed by dancehall and motown and dub step were equally 3rd. I think I got these results because I asked the young generation therefore they knew about these genres whereas some of the older people didn’t know what dub step grime or dancehall was. This was one of the problems with this question. However I wanted my magazine to be quite a youthful genre. If I asked more people of the older generation I predict that more motown would be chosen.

Which editorial pillars would interest you to read?

For the editorial pillars, I have chosen to include: Music news, Top 50 downloads, interviews and celebrity gossip. I am not going to include fashion and posters not only because they were the least selected but because fashion and posters are more targeted for women and young girls and my magazine will be targeted at both men and women therefore if there was fashion and posters I feel it will decrease the sales.

How often would you buy the magazine?

The majority of people asked chose that they would buy the magazine monthly therefore it will be a monthly subscription. Furthermore, the price will be £3.50 as 14 people out of 30 said they would be willing to pay that amount. With a weekly subscription this is illogical because people wouldn’t want to spend that much on a magazine every week. I think most people chose this price because it is affordable for every month for everyone.

What price would you rather pay?
