SCRIPT EXAMPLE

Miss Stockdale: This is an

analysis on the sound of

the opening scene from

The Blind Side, which is

based on a true story. The

film was released in 2009

and stars Sandra Bullock,

who won an Oscar for her

role.

The non-diegetic sound in

the clip comes from the

voice-over by the character

played by Sandra Bullock;

she speaks in a deep

Southern-American accent

in an almost monotone

voice. She is explaining the

plays in American football

as if she has explained it

many times before, the

audience could believe she

is telling them a story she

likes to repeat a lot, she

sounds proud of the story.

This is in link to the drama

genre as the audience are

expecting to watch an

emotional film.Learning objective: To analyse the opening scene of a film focusing on a

specific element.
