FISITA is the international membership organisation that supports the automotive and mobility systems sector in its quest to advance technological development. Having delivered against this mission for every generation of engineers since 1948, we are uniquely placed to promote excellence in mobility engineering and the development of safe, sustainable and affordable mobility solutions.

Since creation, FISITA has seen significant growth in influence and relevance. Today our network of Member Societies and Corporate Members extend a reach to over 210,000 engineers in 37 countries, placing us at the heart of the industry and enabling members to connect with each other, network, share technological advancements and collaborate in a pre-competitive environment.

FISITA facilitates dialogue between engineers and industry, governments, academia, and environmental and standards organisations, across all areas of automotive and mobility systems technology. Achieved through organising and delivering internationally-acclaimed technical events, including the World Automotive Congress, the World Automotive Summit, the newly-created FISITA PLUS conference and EuroBrake, the world’s largest braking technology conference; as well as endorsing the significant events run by our Member Societies.

The FISITA Roadmap to 2020 strategic engagement plans see our organisation’s continued investment in the next generation of engineers through the ‘Your Future in Automotive’ initiative, the long-term ‘Engineer 2030’ project and ‘International Work Experience Programme’, while our recently formed Industry Committee is pioneering our strategic tracking of the evolving mobility sector through the FISITA Eco-System mapping project – ensuring that our organisation continues to deliver leadership and a relevant community to this and future generations of engineers.

Engineers create solutions, FISITA continues to support them to do so.

Our Member Societies and corporate members benefit from FISITA membership through access to a range of international technical events, knowledge sharing, Committee activities and technical networking opportunities. As well as engaging with the world's technical leaders, FISITA also provides a platform to inspire the next generation to choose a career within the automotive mobility industry:

Why FISITA?

n FISITA promotes international co-operation and information exchange with and between Member Societies, working with them to develop and deliver added value products and services for their individual members. Our annual Regional Report highlights these activities, the key achievements and successes of Member Societies, we also offer best practice advice via member case studies and the member Local Knowledge and Best Practice Forum.

n FISITA supports leadership and expertise in global automotive mobility engineering and interfaces with other mobility-related activities, connecting senior research and development executives. Our highly regarded World Automotive Summit is a technical leadership event that brings together technical executives, scientists, academics, public policy makers and NGOs to discuss critical issues for the automotive mobility industry and wider society.

n FISITA supports the continuing professional development of automotive engineers. This includes hosting the biennial World Automotive Congress (Chennai, India is the venue for October 2018) and EuroBrake, the world’s largest braking technology conference and exhibition (Dresden, Germany is the venue for May 2017). We also support the publication of the authoritative Encyclopedia of Automotive Engineering and offer a range of insightful technical papers from FISITA events.

n FISITA provides recognition to events held by our members, which includes technical conferences and meetings relating to automotive and mobility systems technology. FISITA Endorsement is awarded in recognition of each events significant contribution to the development of automotive knowledge and technology.

n The FISITA Automotive Diary is a global calendar of member events, which in 2016, saw our members’ conferences and activities attract more than 210,000 engineers.

n FISITA supports the education, training and international experience of students and young engineers. This includes our dedicated Student Congress, alongside the main FISITA World Automotive Congress, Work Experience Programme, Travel Bursaries of up to EUR 2,000 (to support the costs of taking part in organised work placements) and delivering popular and beneficial student activities at EuroBrake.

n FISITA has recently established an Academic Advisory Board to support the strategic alignment between membership and academia and modernised the innovative ‘Your Future In Automotive’ website, which provides practical career guidance and services to young people, such as the comprehensive International University Guide.

n Our member society network of over 210,000 engineers have exclusive access to the FISITA Friend for Life status. Those who register and build a professional profile can engage within this unique international community - a fantastic network to connect, collaborate and learn from others in the industry, be it with fellow students or engineers and leaders already established within the international automotive mobility sector.

As technology advances, the automotive sector is moving away from the traditional, combustion propelled motor vehicle, and fast becoming the mobility sector of the future. This change will require different skills within the automotive engineering community and in support of this transition FISITA is committed to engaging with our partners and stakeholders.

As part of our Roadmap to 2020, FISITA is introducing specific initiatives to drive local and international relevance for FISITA Member Societies and promoting career opportunities among our Corporate Members. This focuses on an international awareness and recruitment drive of students into the local engineering societies within FISITA membership through the work experience opportunities created via FISITA corporate members.

As we adapt to the challenges of this exciting phase within the automotive sector, we understand that access to the right engineering talent in the future is critical for every member.

We are excited to be delivering these collaborative plans to support mobility engineers to 2020 and our vision remains central to these activities:

Promoting excellence in mobility engineering

FISITA RoadMap to 2020

New for 2017FISITA has a long-standing reputation as the unique, international membership organisation for the automotive engineering community. Our role is to support our community via collaborative activities to develop safe, sustainable and affordable mobility for the world’s population.

Now, more than ever, the traditional industry that manufactured automobiles for 100 years is collaborating with the ‘new skill’ technologists required to develop and deliver the mobility systems of tomorrow.

In recognition of this evolution, FISITA is introducing two new additional levels of membership in 2017, allowing us to invite more organisations to become involved in this fast evolving mobility sector.

Aliate Member Strategic Partner

An Affiliate Member is a prominent automotive mobility engineering society in its nation, whose affiliation supports the objectives of FISITA.

FISITA Strategic Partners are stakeholder organisations engaged in promoting excellence and diversity in the advancement of automotive, mobility systems engineering and associated technologies.

Further information about these exciting new levels of membership are available online at: www.fisita.com/join

“FISITA serves primarily as a bridge that connects the Chinese automotive industry at one end and the fast-changing global automotive industry at the other end. It is a great family for all automotive engineers to think and to communicate, to improve and to innovate. I cherish my days at FISITA, and

“Personal Mobility of the future is one of the biggest challenges for our society. Automobiles will continue to play a big role, but need to be integrated in a complex mobility environment. Connecting stakeholders and communication on a global scale is one of the success factors. This is where FISITA comes into play, as the unique global platform to foster the communication between engineering societies, automotive

industry and academia. Events like the FISITA World Automotive Summit are very good examples of these interactions, with serious interest in a better future. In the automotive sector, I personally have not seen this anywhere else on such a big scale.”

Dr.-Ing. Karl Siebertz, Head of External Alliances, Europe, Ford Research & Advanced Engineering
