News & Notes from Pastor Tim

Dear Friends,

OCTOBER SERMON SERIES: A HEART LIKE JESUS Although Jesus spoke to many people on many occasions, it was in the one-to-one conversations and moments with others that He changed lives. Jesus did this through authentic, personal conversations that were relational and intimate. This series looks at three of those encounters, and reveals God’s heart through His Son, Jesus. How can we learn from Jesus, and have a heart like His, based on these encounters? October 8/9 A Heart that Forgives – John 8:1-11 October 15/16 A Heart that Serves – John 13:1-17 October 22/23 A Heart that Redeems – John 3:1-17 I pray you will take in this series and allow the Holy Spirit to make your heart more like Jesus.

WELCOME, CECE HUGHES & WADE NYHUIS Cece Hughes and Wade Nyhuis join our Alleluia! staff as Assistant Youth Ministry Directors. They will join Amber Bolton, Youth Ministry Director; and Conor Hughes, Assistant Youth Ministry Director on our Youth Ministry Staff. COMMITMENT WEEKEND IS NOVEMBER 19/20 How can God use each one of us to change one life at a time, as part of His mission in the world? How can I use my time to build God’s kingdom? How can I share my God-given talents to share the love of Christ with others? How can I give my financial resources to the mission and ministries of my church home and family? Watch your mail soon for this year’s “Alleluia! Giving Guide” and “2017 Commitment Card.”

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN… Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child was started in 1993 by the International Relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse. Shoe boxes filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies are shipped by Samaritan’s Purse to needy children all over the world. These children also receive a booklet in their native language that introduces them to Jesus. These are the only gifts most of these children will receive on Christmas.

All you need to do is start with a shoe box. Fill it with toys, school supplies, or hygiene items and place a check for $7 in each box to cover shipping. If you would like to track where in the world your shoe box travels, pay the $7 shipping fee online, print out a receipt with a barcode on it, and place that in your shoe box. Then return all shoe boxes to the collection box in the Gathering Area by 11am on November 20th.

Sunday, November 20th is the absolute last day to return your completed shoeboxes as they are delivered that same day to their drop off location for shipment overseas.

Please stop by the Operation Christmas Child table in the Gathering Area before or after any service from October 29th - November 20th to pick up a brochure with complete instructions and to have questions answered.

Volunteers are needed – please CLICK HERE to sign up. E-mail [email protected] for further assistance. Thank you!
