A Bonus Guide From  PotPieGirl 

  Amazon is my favorite affiliate program for physical products.  Getting your clicks to convert to sales is SO easy simply because Amazon is a conversions expert.  Their entire site is designed to make at least one sale per visitor.  That said, I ALSO like to offer products from OTHER physical product merchants to enhance my earnings AND give my readers places for price comparisons.  There are also quite a few affiliates that simple CAN’T be an affiliate for Amazon due to state laws, etc.  

Based on all that, I’d like to offer you my favorite Amazon enhancement program… or an Amazon affiliate replacement program for those that need it.  This is the program ­ and it’s totally free to use  =)  In a nutshell, here’s how it works.  You sign up and you are suddenly an affiliate for THOUSANDS of other affiliate programs.  The company, Prosperent, is the main affiliate.  When you make a sale, it is credited to you.  When Prosperent gets paid, they then pay you for your sales.  Prosperent has a Wordpress plugin (also free) that allows you to make big stores on your sites.  I like the plugin a lot, BUT it can be really heavy on a site ­ especially if you are on shared hosting.

   As an example search, I’ll type in ­ fisher price toys  

   Which then returns a page like this on my site:  

  http://outintherealworld.com/welcome­to­the­real­world/query/fisher%20price%20toys/   All of those products are from various online merchants...and ALL of those links are affiliate links for those products  =)  AND those pages ARE indexed by Google to help your site rank for all kinds of terms.  Even better:  Each of those products on that page all each make their OWN page on your site...and those individual product pages are ALSO indexed by Google.     

   http://outintherealworld.com/product/Fisher­Price%20Thomas%20%26amp%3B%20Friends%20Take­N­Play%20Small%20Talking%20Thomas/cid/b409c31b3ff5dc078602415c3d78683c/  The plugin is pretty nifty.  It has a little bit of a learning curve the first time you use it on a site.  It also takes a little time to get your settings just right so it looks and performs well on your site/theme.  

The plugin is not the main reason for this bonus guide, but wanted to mention this one feature of Prosperent and let you see how it looks and how it works.  What I really want to share about Prosperent is another rather new tool they have that ANYONE can use.  

  Many of us use Amazon as our primary monetization method for our blog posts/reviews/etc, but offering your readers other places to buy the thing (or things) you are reviewing/recommending is great for reader experience.  Also, now that Pinterest is allowing affiliate links again, Prosperent is a great program to use (if you do it carefully).  On the “Get Links” tab you are greeted by a search bar like this:  

  You simply type in what you’re looking for, and presto!  You are given tons of products from all types of online merchants… and YOU are an affiliate for ALL of them. 

 Note:  this search tool is not really “smart”, so you may find times that you have to play around with the words you use to search in order to find what you’re looking for.  Let’s try my example search again in the Get Links tool:  

  I simply type in fisher price toys and get a LOT of results to choose from:  

   

When I see a product I want to use, I click “Details” under the image (where the red arrow is pointing) and I get all this info:  

   You get the product image url (and an option to shorten that url).  You get the direct affiliate link to that product so that YOU get credit for any sales (and an option to shorten that link)  You also get options to go ahead and share on Facebook and/or Twitter as well as merchant info.  Pretty handy, right?  

As you know, I love using EPD on my blog posts and these links CAN be used with EPD.  Simply go ahead and click to make a product display and then copy/paste the Prosperent product info into the appropriate spaces:

If you want to add more products, just click the “Add” button there up top to add another blank product detail box and copy/paste the details for the next product:   

  Add as many products as you want…  You can even add in Amazon products, too!  Click the “search” bar at the top, choose Amazon, and then type in the search bar what you’re looking for: 

  Then, simply click the blue “Use Product” button under any product you want to add and that product will be added with all the product images and your Amazon affiliate link  =)  When you’re done choosing products for that search, click the “done” button at the bottom:  

 And you’ll be returned to the product details page you started on, but now all the new Amazon products will be added with all the details filled in:  

  Now, you click on the “select layout” blue button over to the right: 

  Choose how you want your product display to look and then click the “preview” button to see it:  

  (note: yours won’t look exactly the same as mine with the “get more info” button underneath.  I changed my settings and have my coded to look that way.  You can do that as well ­ it’s easy ­ but you have to adjust those 

settings for it to work with custom buttons like I am using in the example above)  When you like what you see, just click the “Get Code” button and copy/paste that into your blog post (or whatever web page you’re making as long as it accepts HTML)  

  You can add more Prosperent products if you want, or add more Amazon products ­ just be sure to get the new code if you change things.  Easy, right?  For this example, I am done with adding products, so I click “Get Code” and copy it all… then paste it into my blog post.  Here’s how this example blog post turned out:  http://outintherealworld.com/fisher­price­toy­story­3­toys­my­3­year­old­loves/  (again, that is an EXAMPLE post… I’d normally have more content)  

Getting your Prosperent Links on Pinterest  I’m going to show you how to do this, BUT…  

Be SURE to read my disclaimer at the end of these instructions, ok?  If you want to share Prosperent products on Pinterest, you’ll notice that our direct affiliate links don’t work quite right if we try to manually add a Prosperent affiliate link:  I paste my affiliate link in the box to pin it….  

   Then click the “next” button….and I get this message from Pinterest:  

  So I do this instead.  

I pin images from the post I just made by adding in the url of the post:  

  Then, I click the next button and choose an image that is a Prosperent product:  Then I fill out the description and choose what board to pin it to ­ and pin it.  When that’s done and it’s “pinned”, I then go to the pin and click to edit it:  

  

I then simply edit the “website” url to my affiliate link:    

  I want to change the url in the website box to my affiliate link, BUT….  If I try to change it to the long/direct url Prosperent gives me ­ OR try the shortened Prosperent affiliate link, Pinterest gives me this error message:  

  

Rut Roh!  Now what?  Simple… I use a plugin on my sites called “Pretty Link Lite” (it’s free).  That plugin allows me to make links that look like they are from my site BUT they actually redirect to the affiliate link.  I click to “add new link” with Pretty Link Lite and fill it in like this:  

  Then I click “create” at the bottom and it takes me to my list of “Pretty Links” and I see it made me a link like this:  http://outintherealworld.com/shake­and­go­buzz  Be sure to CHECK the link to be sure it works properly before sharing it anywhere  =)  I then add THAT link to my Pinterest pin:  

  And click to save it.  Presto Chango…. It’s now a Prosperent affiliate link.  Here’s my pin:  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/526006431461146001/  Now… a disclaimer….  Use this method sparingly.  I’m not 100% sure that Pinterest likes redirects so you don’t want to do it too often.  

If unsure or uncomfortable doing it this way, just pin your post images with your blog post url, ok?  Only do what YOU are comfortable doing.  Do NOT do things because I, or others do them  =)  Wrapping up…  Prosperent is a great way to diversify and add to your bottom line.  Adding additional streams of income is ALWAYS a good thing.  And, for those that can NOT be Amazon affiliates, Prosperent is a great substitute.  Best of all, Prosperent is FREE  =)   Sign up for Prosperent Here  Get EPD to make your product displays here.  Have fun with it!  Jennifer ~PotPieGirl
