The Sunbeam Alur Peace & Quiet Kettle features newly development quiet boil technology that makes boiling water a peaceful practice.Thequietboiltechnologyisastainlesssteeldiscpositionedontheelementfloorthatreducesthesizeofaswellasdispersingthewaterbubbles.Thisminimisesthelevelofnoiseduringheating.Oncethekettlereachesboilingtemperatureitisonlythenthatabubblingnoisecanbeheardandatthispointthekettlewillautomaticallyswitchoff.

Before using your kettle.Fillthekettlewithwateruptothemaximumlevelindicator,boilanddiscard.

Dual-use switch.Thiskettlefeaturesadualfunctionswitch.Pushtheuppersectionoftheswitch‘boil’toturnthekettle‘On’.Pushthelowersectionoftheswitch‘open’topopopenthelid.

Using your kettle.1.Pushdownthelowersectionoftheswitch

toopenthehingedlockinglid.2.Fillthekettlewiththedesiredamountof

water(minimum1cup/250ml). NOTE:Donotfillabovethemaximumlevel

indicator(markedonthewatergaugeas“MAX”)aswatermayspilloutofthespoutwhenboiling.

Alternatively,thekettlemaybefilledthroughthepouringspout.

3.Pushthelidclosedfirmlyuntilitlocksintoposition.

4.Placethekettleonthepowerbaseandconnecttheplugintoa230/240VoltACpoweroutlet.TurnthepowerON.

5.Pressthe‘boil’switch.Thelightwillilluminatetoindicatethekettleisheating.

6.Thekettlewillswitchoffautomaticallyoncethewaterhasboiled.

Note:Donotremovethekettlefromthepowerbasewhileinuse.

7.Liftthekettlefromthepowerbaseandpourthewater.

8.Thekettlemaybestoredonthepowerbasewhilenotinuse.Thekettlewillnotre-boiluntiltheONswitchispressed.

Note:Ensurethepoweristurnedoffatthepoweroutletwhenthekettleisnotinuse.

Shouldyouaccidentallyallowthekettletooperatewithoutwater,itwillcutoutforboil-dryprotection.Ifthisoccurs,allowthekettletocoolbeforefillingwithcoldwaterandre-boiling.

SafetyisamajorconsiderationinthedesignofaSunbeamkettle.Thisiswhywehavedevelopedour3-WaySafetySystem,whichensuresthatyourkettlewill:

1. Automatically switch off after boiling. Forconvenience,safetyandenergy

efficiency,yourSunbeamkettlefeaturesanautocut-outdevice.

2. Cut-out for boil-dry protection. Ifthekettleisoperatedwithoutwater,it

willautomaticallycut-out,preventinganydamagetotheelement.

3. Shut-down in case of overheating. Intheeventofoverheating,thekettlewill

automaticallyshutdowntopreventfurtherdamage.Shouldthisoccur,takeyourkettletoaSunbeamServiceCentreorAppointedServiceAgent.

Alwaysdisconnectthekettlefromthepoweroutletbeforecleaning.Neverimmersethekettleswitcharea,cordorpowerbaseinwater,orallowmoisturetocomeintocontactwiththeseparts.

Removal of mineral deposits.Mineraldepositsintapwatermaycausetheinteriorofthewatergaugetodiscolour.Toremovethisbuild-up,useSunbeamLiquidDescaler,asimpletouse,non-toxiccleaneravailablefromSunbeamAppointedServiceAgents.

Alternatively:1.Fillthekettlewith3cupsofwhitevinegar

andtheremainderwithwaterandallowtostandovernight.DONOTBOIL.

2.Emptythesolutionfromthekettle.Fillthekettlewithcleanwater,bringtoboilandthendiscardthewater.Repeatandthekettlewillthenbereadytouse.

To clean the exterior.Thestainlesssteelsurfacemaybewipedoverwithadampclothandpolishedwithasoftdrycloth.CAUTION:Donotusechemical,steelwool,orabrasivecleanerstocleantheoutsideofthekettle,asthesewillscratchthestainlesssteelsurface.

To clean the mesh filter.Pushtheopenswitchatthetopofthehandletoopenthehingedlid.Graspthetopofthescalefilterandpullupwardstoremove.Washinwarmsoapywateranddrythoroughlybeforereplacinginthekettle.

Cleaning the concealed heating elementThiskettlefeaturesanon-corrosivestainlesssteelheatingelement.Overtime,scalemaybuildupontheconcealedelementinsidethekettle,causingdiscolourationthatmayhavetheappearanceofrust.Beassuredthisisnotrust.IfthisoccurscleanwithagreenScotchbrite®scourerorsimilarandasuitableabrasivecleaningcream.Rinseandcleanthoroughlywithtapwaterbeforeusingyourkettleagain.
