Watch your mail for further information. We’ve recently welcomed a new face to the advancement unit. I encourage you to call her any time! In the fall Connective Issue there was an article about the White Coat Crusade. This new fundraising initiative gives you the opportunity to purchase a white coat for a first-year medical student. The students truly appreciate the tradition and ceremony of the day and enjoy inviting their friends and family. Your gift of $250 will purchase one student’s crested coat, and a portion of your gift will also be allocated to student bursaries, providing financial aid to students in need. I have made my $250 pledge and am issuing a challenge to the Alumni Association board to do the same. I am also challenging you, my fellow alumni, to make the same pledge. There is more information about making a gift to the White Coat Crusade on the enclosed alumni association membership application form or you can call Anne-Marie at 306-966-5763. On a sad note, we said good bye to a dear colleague, alumnus and friend, Dr. Garth Bruce (MD’70), who passed away on November 30. Garth was a lifelong volunteer who selflessly gave of his time and talents to our alumni association in many ways. He served as our president from 2007- 09, and it was because of Garth I joined the board. He was a pediatrician who enjoyed helping patients and their families, teaching medical students and working with pediatric residents. Garth touched many lives through his various roles and will be deeply missed. Thank you for your continued support of our students and your fellow alumni.
