The building roofscape – both as an architectural statement
and as a functional element - is a conjunction of the roof,
the perimeter detailing and the rainwater solution.
Pitched and curved roofs provide a strong architectural
statement in themselves, whereas flat roofs rely for their
visual impact on the strength of the perimeter detailing.
Alumasc Armaseam Metal
Roofing, and Skyline
Fascia/Soffit Systems together
provide the ingredients for a
‘high tech’ overall roofscape
solution based on metal, with
wide ranging applications and
architectural potential.
Armaseam plus Skyline the all metal roofing solution from Alumasc
combined with flat roof
systems from the Alumasc
waterproofing range.
Armaseam can also be used
in conjunction with systems
from the Alumasc Architectural
Rainwater range to provide
all-metal sloping roof solutions
to traditional format, whilst
Skyline provides the ideal
fascia/soffit solution when

Armaseam: dramatic roofscapes
Armaseam is a versatile, high performing standing seam system based on
the tried and tested principle of zipped joints. It is virtually maintenance
free, totally weatherproof with no penetrative fixings, and will provide
outstanding performance for the life of the building.
The flexibility and adaptability of Armaseam make it equally
suitable for pitched, curved or virtually flat roof applications.
Panels can be formed in the flat to almost unlimited length.
Panels can be laid to curve on site without mechanical
equipment, to a radius of 40 metres for convex curves and
45 metres for concave curves. With the assistance of on-site
equipment these radii can be reduced to 6 metres and 15
metres and panels can be crimp curved in the factory down to a
radius of 600mm, for convex curves only.
Armaseam can also provide the waterproofing substrate
beneath an Alumasc ZinCo extensive green roof.
Armaseam Key Benefits■ No penetrative fixings;
■ Unmatched versatility: can be fixed vertically or near horizontally (1.5° minimum pitch);
■ Can be curved in the direction of span.
■ Production on site of panels to any length
■ Fully compliant with current Building Regulations
■ Fire performance rated at AA to BS 476: Part3.
■ BBA Approved

Armaseam: contemporary solutions for standing seam roofing
6 7
Standing seam is one of the oldest forms of roofing to exploit the special
aesthetic and weatherproofing properties of non-ferrous metals.
Traditionally, these metals have required continuous support from a solid
substrate and their application has been highly labour intensive.
Armaseam by Alumasc brings all the
special architectural qualities and
material options associated with
traditional standing seam roofing
into a modern context.
Armaseam: contemporary solutions for standing seam roofing
Regular production of Armaseam is in aluminium and for more prestigious
applications stainless steel, zinc and copper are also available.
6 7
Aluminium combines economy with longevity in
stucco embossed mill finish, with alternative paint
specifications available. Armaseam can be manufactured in
pre-painted aluminium strip, with almost unlimited colour
choice in PVDF or ARS coatings for quantities of
500 metres or more.
Zinc is naturally self protecting, has excellent creep
resistance and can be easily worked for special details.
Armaseam zinc panels can be supplied with a natural bright
finish, or a pre-weathered finish (Quartz Zinc).
Stainless steel has dramatic visual impact
– reflecting light and surrounding colour – and it is
non-corroding and fire resistant. Marine grade is available for
harsh environments and there are a wide choice of finishes.
Copper requires no decoration, maintenance or cleaning,
and is dimensionally stable over time. To maximise specifier
choice, Alumasc can supply Armaseam copper panels in
different finishes including pre-treatments that replicate the
effects of weathering.
Armaseam SystemsAs a single skin roofing, Armaseam is ideal as an over roof, or
as a roof to open sided walkways. In conjunction with either
mineral wool or rigid insulation, Armaseam can provide single
skin solutions to a range of cold roof configurations.
For double skin warm roof applications, incorporating mineral
wool insulation, Armaseam may span between purlins, using
a profiled liner sheet as inner skin, or between main frame
members, with a structural deck as the inner skin.

Skyline: function and added style where roof meets wall

The interface between walls and roof at the building eaves is one of the most
crucial facets of design - both functionally and aesthetically. The sharpness
and vibrancy of factory finished aluminium, fully exploited by Alumasc’s
creative fabrication skills, has provided dramatic engineered solutions over a
wide range of buildings for both public and commercial sectors.

Skyline is not a rigid set of standard components, but a product
rationale, developed to exploit the potential of Alumasc’s wide
ranging production capability in pressed and folded aluminium.
The result is a range of four generic fascia configurations which
may be projected direct from the elevation or they may be
combined with the Alumasc soffit plank to produce varying
eaves overhangs.
A design and fabrication service for bespoke shapes is also
available. When used in conjunction with Armaseam, Skyline
provides a fully integrated and engineered metal roofscape, but
Skyline can equally be used as a product in its own right both
with flat roofs and with slated and tiled pitched roofs.

Armaseam plus Skyline: a high tech all metal capping for the build ing from a single sourceThe wide range of volumetric roof shapes available
with Armaseam, combined with the sleek
eaves/fascia configurations that can be created with
Skyline, provide almost unlimited scope for total
roofscape solutions in metal.

The metal roofscape: alte rnative product combinations and design synergies from the Alumasc range
When combined with Alumasc’s market leading Architectural Rainwater
Systems, Armaseam can create a total roofscape replicating a traditional
pitched roof, with flush or projecting eaves.
The special benefits of extrusion - smooth lines and intricate
linear detailing - are reflected in Aqualine, which can
contribute strongly, with its sleek and sophisticated
appearance, to the overall architectural design of a building.

When combined with one of the Alumasc world class
flat roofing systems, Skyline can provide a strong and
dramatic architectural statement at the building eaves.

Eavesline CopingThe Eavesline coping system
provides an economical
and easily installed capping
to upstanding parapets,
in conjunction with flat or
pitched roofs. The strap fixing
method avoids penetration of
the capping, whilst allowing
ventilation over the top of
the wall. Eavesline coping is
maintenance free, available
in a wide range of colours and
is equally suited to retrofit
and new build.

Eavesline anti-climb barrier is designed to prevent unauthorised
access to the roofscape. It comprises support brackets and
pre-formed curved barrier sections and can be fitted in front
of virtually any gutter profile providing a bold and imaginative
architectural feature in addition to its security function. The
barrier is suitable for new build and retrofit.

Derbigum Rapido is a ‘high tech’ single layer alternative
to built up bituminous roofing, whilst Derbigum Arte
incorporates a non textured acrylic surface, to make it
fully comparable aesthetically with single ply membranes.
Hydrotech is ideal as the waterproofing beneath green
roofs, using a common membrane specification applied without
need for specialist equipment and with variations only in the
protective layer.
