Kowai Walkway at Leithfield Starts at Old Leithfield Hotel and continues alongside the Kowai River to Leithfield Beach. Check out the coastal lagoon and the beach spit while you are there or listen out for the many sounds of birdlife. Wetlands at Amberley Beach Built by the Amberley Lions. Flat ground so wheelchair/pushchair friendly. Stage 1 - Lagoon Loop includes car parking area. Stage 2 - Golf Links Loop 850m long approx and includes 70m of boardwalk. Combined stages 1 and 2 make a figure "8" and total about 2kms. Stage 3 - once completed will take you through to the Ti Kouka Wetland area. Mt Cass Walkway at Waipara The summit is approx 400m high; take in its unusual limestone landscape. Spectacular views of Pegasus Bay and North Canterbury. Closed - August & September for lambing. Reasonable fitness required. Tuke Ngghere Bush Walk at Waiau Eye catching expanse of native and exotic bush. Purchased by early conservationist J K Forbes in 1944 when it was rough and badly eroded. Over the years he transformed it by planting a mixture of native and exotic trees. Kaikoura Coast Track 3 night private walking track (approx 40km) or 2 day mountain bike (bring your own bike). The track takes you through the breathtaking beauty of the Kaikoura Coast, magnificent views of mountains, sea, bush and remote farmland. Hurunui High Country Track 3 night private walking track on Island Hills Station. Reasonable level of fitness is required. Track covers 30km. Walk through diverse vegetation and dramatic landscapes including farmland, beech forest and sub-alpine terrain. Kaikoura Wilderness Walkway 2 day/1 night or 3 day/2 night guided walk through the Puhi Peaks Nature Reserve (a protected significant natural area of international importance). This area is a haven for a diverse array of rare and endangered native species of flora and fauna.
