Beddington Farm Lands

Design Project – Beddington Farm Lands

Client: Thames Water Authority

Size: 292 Acres

Detail: Existing deposits of treated sewage and gravel to be excavated and removed

from site. Followed by phased importation of landfill to create and establish a new

landform of regional significance. New landform to incorporate extensive water based

sporting facilities and a wide range of wildlife and habitats including woodland, scrub,

grassland, wetland, weed beds, lakes etc.

Design Project – Sandhills Primary School Oxford

Client: Oxfordshire County Council

Size: 50 Acres

Detail: The brief was to develop a landscape masterplan for whole site with features such

as wood land, pond, sport pitches, amphitheatre and play zones.

Allan Allsopp Design was responsible for tendering the works as well as the contract

management. The earthworks included excavating and forming the plateau for the new

school building. The new landform required the excavation and regarding of approximately

9000cub yards of subsoil.

Detail: My brief was to prepare a layout plan for this 2 acre site incorporating

various design features such as formal and informal area’s; water features ;

wild life habitats ; potager ; orchard etc.

Tittenhurst Park - Sunningdale Surrey

Project: Tittenhurst Park – Sunningdale Surrey

Client: Hutch Investments –

Size: 52 Acres

Detail: The house and garden was once owned by Thomas Holloway College Egham Surrey.

Subsequently the property has been owned by various times by John Lennon and Ringo Star.

Present owner HRH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan ruler of Abu Dhabi

The Project: As a former employee of Charles Funke Associates I was a member of the site

management team responsible for the implementation of the landscape design. The design

involved the introduction of major new water courses, earthworks and planting schemes

throughout the existing 52 acre site.

Size: 365 Acres

Detail: Situated on the site of London’s main landfill site, the design involved the relocationof 13.5 million cubic meters of refuse from the proposed business park zone to the golfcourse area. This was placed and shaped to create a major new landform designed by the landscape and golf course architects.The 365 acre scheme has set the standard for business park design and as part of planninggain involved in in the creation of a championship golf course, district park and equestrian facilities. The scheme has won a number of international and national awards.As an employee of Bernard Ede Associates Allan Allsopp was based on site for a period of6 years responsible for landscape contract management, design revision and planning.
