The absence of natural predators in theHighlands has led to an overpopulation of reddeer. Their intensive browsing inhibits theregeneration of woodland, which has negativeconsequences for the entire ecosystem.Selective culling allows us to keep deernumbers at Alladale to a manageable level andassists us in our long-term goal of restoring thebalance of nature. We also have a rifle targetshooting range, with expert tuition available forbeginners. The stalking season runs from 1stJuly to 15th February. Stalking rates per rifle(full day): Hinds: £250; Stags: £350-500,depending on the season.

Alladale also boasts one of the finest clayshooting set-ups in the Highlands, with a seriesof automated traps to simulate different kinds ofbird shooting, and expert instruction on hand.

Alladale Wilderness Reserve offers first-class stalking across five glens, expertly guided by ourresident rangers. Stags are brought off the hill using Garron ponies, in the traditional way.
