St. Georges Story September 2013 was the last time St. Georges would welcome new students to the school. After this year the school will be closing and the current students will be being moved to either St. Ambrose Barlow or Harrop Fold. Both of these schools have recently been built to a new modern standard. A mother of 2 students in St. Georges wasn’t too happy about the closure. “Both of my children are very upset about leaving the school as they have made lots of friends and built great relationships with the teachers. Sankeys Manchester Story After closing indefinitely in May 2013; Sankeys Manchester reopened its doors to clubbers in December. The club closed due to financial difficulties that have now been resolved by finding a new owner for the club meaning the Manchester venue will be open for its 20th year. Formerly known as Sankeys soap, the club opened in 1994 and has been at the forefront of underground music ever since. The previous owner David Vincent says that Sankeys is not so much about the money but more about running an artistic business which is why it took so long to find a new owner. I asked some students that went to the opening party what they thought about the club. “Sankeys is by far the best club in Manchester; it even knocks the warehouse project off the top spot”… “The opening party was a perfect night, the music, the people and the venue were all amazing”… “The atmosphere inside the club is like no other, everyone is there purely for the music and to have a good time” So there you have it, if you’re looking for a good time and great music visit Sankeys Manchester. Today we are looking into the harsh reality of gambling and how it can affect your life. A large amount of people try their luck everyday by gambling; some bet on their favourite football team, others prefer to play black jack but all gambling outlets can have a bad side. It is illegal to gamble if you are under 18 but some minors still manage to do it, now we have an exclusive first-hand account of a young man who got caught up in the gambling game at just 17.
