Wrestling Coach of the Year
JOHN LITTLE, Solanco
John Little guided the Golden Mules to a 14-2 overall record, 7-0 in Section One of the L-L League, winning their third straight Section One championship.
The Mules also won the L-L League tournament for the third straight year took their third straight District Three Section Three Class AAA tournament title.
Solanco opened the year smoking the competition at the Mule Classic to win for the second straight year, then lapped the field at the Penn Manor tournament. A top-ten finish at the PowerAde tournament closed out 2011 and the Mules improved one step on last year’s third-
place finish at the Escape From the Rock, finishing just 30 points behind Class AA juggernaut

Wrestler of the Year
THOMAS HAINES,
Solanco
Could there be any other choice? In a year when he was second to none, Thomas Haines collected a bushel load of seconds. His year began winning his second Mule Classic individual championship, where he earned the most falls award. It ended with him winning his second consecutive PIAA Class AAA state championship. In between he nabbed his second L-L League title, as well as the falls award; his second sectional title and his second Escape the Rock belt. He was also voted the Outstanding Wrestler of the ETR. In a season of first places, there were first times too. He won his first Penn Manor Holiday championship and won his first PowerAde Christmas tournament title. The crowning first was his first District Three/Southcentral Region championship. He finished the year 44-0 with 35 falls and, after two years of scholastic competition, is 94-4 with 65 falls for his career.

JOHN ACHILLE,
Lampeter-Strasburg
For the second straight season, Achille guided L-S to a 20-win season, a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Three title and a berth in the state tournament.
Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year Standout senior paced the Pioneers’ balanced offense. Often saving his best game for the big game, he scored a career-high 31 in his career finale, firing in seven 3-pointers, four in the fourth quarter including a game-tying three to force the first of two overtimes.

Girls’ Basketball Coach of the Year
LAMAR KAUFFMAN,
Lancaster Catholic Despite losing a pair of All-League forwards, along with four other key seniors from last year’s team, Kauffman guided the Crusaders to a record 10th L-L title, a record 15th District Three Class AAA crown and to an appearance in the PIAA title game. With Catholic’s 53-49 victory over defending L-L champion Manheim Township in the league semifinals, Kauffman — in his 30th year at Catholic’s helm — crossed the 700-win mark for his career.
A 5-10, do-everything senior guard, Rheinheimer powered the Blazers back into the L-L final for the third time in the last five years. A staunch defender and rebounder who could drive the lane and shoot from behind the 3-point arc, Rheinheimer finished with 1,303 career points, making her Lancaster Mennonite’s third all-time leading scorer.

Marksman of the Year
MITCH SAYLOR, Manheim Central
To record a perfect 10, a shooter must hit what amounts to the size of a period at the end of a sentence and do it from 10 meters away. The Marksman of the Year must have a solid position and understand the fundamentals of his or her position. Mitch Saylor, this year’s Marksman of the Year, and the team committed to practice, the team, and knows the fundamentals that it takes to succeed. When he lies prone to shoot, he does his job one shot at a time. Saylor shot in every match this season and averaged 99.3 out of 100.
