Who he was and what he did... Alfred Hitchcock was an English filmmaker and producer and his most

famous genre was thriller. He used many different types of technical devices when creating his films because he liked to be unique. He used the camera in a way which was supposed to mimic a persons gaze and framed shots to manipulate the feelings of the audience such as anxiety, fear and empathy. His stories are mainly about fugitives on the run from the law who are mainly alongside female characters. Many of his films have unexpected endings involving violence, murder and crime.

He became a cultural icon through cameo appearances in his own films, interviews and film trailers and is known as the greatest British filmmaker as he directed more than 50 feature films in a career spanning six decades.

Style of writingAlthough Alfred Hitchcock rarely did any writing, he supervised and guided his

writersthrough every draft and insisted on strict attention to detail. He had a

preference oftelling the story visually rather than verbally. Over time this lead to some of

the work ofhis writers solely being created because of Alfred Hitchcock’s creativity. He

also createdhis storyboards to the finest detail.
