Alexander Fleming was the creator of Penicillin. Before penicillin however, Fleming searched anti-bacterial agents. He accidentally came across this medicine when he was showing a friend his experiments and found that mold was not growing on a certain side of a plate. He studied this and found that penicillium notatum was the cause. I chose Alexander Fleming because I thought it would be interesting to make a scrapbook about the famous person who created penicillin, which turned out to be a life saver for a lot of people.

Dear Diary, Today was the best day of my life! I graduated from Kilmarnock Academy! I have been going here for two years and worked hard forever. I could not believe that I am finally done! I am going to work at a shipping office for now, but hope to later work at a hospital.

Sincerely,Alex

Just after dawn today, Alexander Fleming discovered a medicine called penicillin. He came back from a long holiday and found that some culture trays in his lab were contaminated with a fungus. A visitor was coming that day, so he threw the trays in a disinfectant. When the visitor arrived, he pulled some of the trays that were not submerged and showed them to him. He noticed an area of fungus that was not raided by bacteria. Fleming later isolated it and identified it from the penicillian genus. He called it penicillin and will hopefully cure many illnesses to come. -AP

“It is the lone worker who makes the first advance in a subject; the details may be worked out by a team, but the prime idea is due to enterprise, thought, and a perception of an individual.”-Alexander Fleming
