NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF THE FIRM

INTRODUCTION

Dar Al Dowailah Consultants and Construction Managers has now completed its 20 years in the

local & International Market as it was established in 1991 as a technical and legal extension of the

Mostafa Abo Al Azm Engineering Office, which was originally established in 1961. Thus the office is

one of the oldest consultancies in Kuwait. Since the liberation of Kuwait, the firm has grown steadily

to become one of the leading architectural and engineering companies in the country.

The office serves both public and private clients in Kuwait and has been very successful both in

winning design competitions and in securing significant Build Operate Transfer projects with private

sector investors and developers.

Current work includes the design and supervision of the Public Authority for Industry headquarters

building, major housing and infrastructure projects and large scale workshop, warehouse, commercial

and industrial projects.

Project Schedules

The office pays particular attention to achieving the time schedules set by Clients. Specialist

programming staffs are familiar with all the industry- standard software to facilitate project control

and follow-up.

Cost Control

The control of project costs from design concept stage through to tender and construction is

recognized as of fundamental importance to Kuwaiti Clients in a very competitive construction

market. The office has an excellent recent track record in achieving competitive tenders within budget

estimates.

Computers

The office is fully computerized. Computers are used at every stage of a project. Initial concepts are

visualized internally and externally in three dimensions and often animated as walk-through or fly-bys

for Client and government authority presentation. Design ideas are tested and refined using specialist

engineering software. Preliminary and final designs are undertaken using AutoCad with special

attention paid to the co-ordination between architecture and engineering. Computer work-stations are

linked by a local area server to extensive printing and plotting equipment. An Inventory of

Computer Facilities is given below.

Communications

Dar Al Dowailah Consultants has the benefit of a dedicated Internet connection. This enables the

office to transmit and receive large project documents, including drawings, world-wide. The Internet

also provides unlimited technical information for use in project design, detailing and specification.

Statutory Authorities

The firm has experience of working as consultants for all the main government statutory authorities.

The insight thus gained helps in understanding how best to ensure that permits are issued on time

and project delays avoided.
