Parents are urged to share your services, time, advice in terms of taking AHMS from strength to strength. Please contact the Director for your services.
2. MANAGEMENT MATTERS a. MEETINGS
Parents MUST make APPOINTMENTS via the Secretaries to meet any member of the Management, H.O.D.’s or Staff. Parents cannot come to school and demand to meet with Staff without an
appointment, because TEACHING TIME gets affected. Avoid making your problem everyones problem, speaking ill of unconfirmed issues, causing fitnah, doing your own investigations, stirring problems, etc. BUT BE KIND ENOUGH & MAKE AN APPOINTMENT VIA THE SECRETARIES AND AMMICABLY RESOLVE THE MATTER/S.
b. ABSENTEEISM
Learners must not stay absent for petty and trivial reasons. If a learner is issued with a SICK LEAVE NOTICE by a Medical Practioner, the school must be informed immediately and a letter / certificate from the Medical Practioner must be produced. In such cases, it will be the duty of the learner and parent to make arrangements with subject educators regarding homework, assessments etc.
c. LEAVE
Until possible please make all necessary appointments after school hours or for the holidays. In cases on emergency, if a learner has to take leave during school hours, PARENTS MUST SEEK PERMISSION IN WRITING FROM THE DIRECTOR / SMT MEMBER, and complete necessary LEAVE PROTOCOL’S with the Secretaries. The SCHOOL DOES NOT ALLOW learners to take leave after writing the examinations at the end of each term, without official leave been sought. AWARDS EVENING IS AN OFFICIAL EVENT AND IT IS COMPULSORY FOR LEARNERS & PARENTS TO ATTEND. d. CONDITIONAL PLACEMENT Learners who are on Conditional Placement, will be monitored via a weekly report card, where staff members will write a comment in their teaching time, and parents will be informed every Monday, regarding progress or retrogression.
e. SUBJECT CHANGES
Subject Changes must be done at the end of the academic year, for the forthcoming year. Changes will not be allowed during the year, as we have a cut of date from the NWED announced in December each year. Learners must therefore make the correct choices when choosing subjects at the end of grade 9.
f. TEXT BOOKS / KITAABS
At AHMS, we loan Text Books &Kitaabs to learners from grade 4 to 12. Learners will have to take special care using these, and guard against damages or losing them. Parents will pay for damaged or lost kitaabs/text books.
g. INFRASTRUCTURE The AHMS Floor Plan will be issued to parents today, so as to meet staff members teaching your child this year, both in Islamiaat& Secular. The Floor Plan will also serve to make you understand our current infrastructure. We have 461 learners and 34 staff members, who are comfortably catered for currently.
h. TRANSPORT
Learners MUST be fetched from school on time, especially the Grades RR, R, 1 & 2. The contact details of TRANSPORTERS must be submitted to the secretaries for control purposes.
i. LEARNER DEVELOPMENT
For purposes of learner development, 8 CLUBS have been formed in the senior and F.E.T. phases, forming part of the LRC. Learners elected for these must work closely with staff members so that the schooling journey of learners at AHMS could become interesting, inspiring, spiritually uplifting and a pleasure.
3. ACADEMIC MATTERS
a. HOMEWORK Homework is an integral part of a child’s learning and understanding of every subject in the curriculum. Learners must do the homework by themselves
and avoid COPYINGOrientation – 2019 / 1440 OR PARENTS doing the homework. Gone are the days of SPOON FEEDING. Learners need to work independently.
b. PROJECTS
All projects will be done at school. No projects to be done at home.

Learners are reminded to revise the lessons taught daily, if not atleast once a week. Every assessment is important and learners must prepare adequately. Grades 4 to 12 will have assessements as per the TUESDAY TESTING CYCLE, starting on the 5th February. Apart from the formal assessments, please understand that that informal assessments will also be conducted as per the requirements of CAPS, in all subjects. An Imtihaan/Assessment roster will be issued at the end of each term.
d. EXTRA CLASSES / TUTION
The rule at AHMS is that every subject educator will give extra classes / tuition in his/her subject without any charge. Learners MUST come forward and request for the tuition / extra classes and make arrangements with the staff. Parents will be notifed via the H.O.D.’S regarding the above.
e. SATURDAY & HOLIDAY CLASSES
