    Time for NewBeginnings

"This is a time for reflection as well as

    celebration.

As you look back on the past year and

all that has taken place in your life,

    Remember each experience for the

good that has come of it

and for the knowledge you have

    gained.

Remember the efforts you have made

and the goals you have reached.

Remember the love you have shared

and the happiness you have brought.

Remember the laughter, the joy, the

    hard work, and the tears.

And as you reflect on the past year,

also be thinking of the new one to

    come.

Because most importantly, this is a

    time of new beginnings

    and the celebration of life."

Three years ago, A.I.R.C. Director, Dylan Prescott, was diagnosed with Diabetes. He has been dealing with the damage done by the disease. Dylan has sufferednumerous hemorrhages in his eyes, Bells Palsy, weak immune system, pneumonia,

fatigue and worst of all kidney failure. His kidneys are far too damaged to be savedand he was told he would need a kidney transplant. This was of course verydevastating news for him, his family and everyone who loves him. For the past year,he has been waiting to be cleared for the transplant as well as to find a donor.Watching his health diminish and the emotional toll it has taken on his family, hisgirlfriend, Jen Rasmussen, A.I.R.C Jr. & Sr. Youth advisor, chose to get tested as adonor. All the tests came back perfect and the transplant team gave them the go aheafor the kidney transplant. Along with strong faith and even more support from friendsand family, the surgery will be on February 13, 2013 in Madison, WI.

Friends and family are organizing a benefit on behalf of Dylan and Jen on Februar2, 2013, starting at 5pm at the VFW in Wausau. All you can eat (Indian tacos, chicken) and drink will be included in the admission price of $20.00. There will also b

a variety of raffle items including a trip for 2 to Las Vegas, NV. River Valley Bank wibe accepting monetary donations on Dylan's behalf under Dylan's Transplant Fund. The A.I.R.C. is also accepting donations on the family's behalf.Dylan is a very giving man with a big heart who is always willing to help others. He isthe backbone of the cultural aspect of the A.I.R.C. and has taught many Native andnon-Native people. He is very humble and thankful for everything he has.
