Agra has its unique identity in the global tourism

map. It has t hree UNESCO World Heritage M onuments Taj M ahal, Agra Fort & Fatehpur Sikri. Besides t hesemonuments, a large number of the centrally protectedmonuments of the national importance are also located

here. Agra's cultural heritage is also rich, be it in the fieldof inlay w orks, carpets, zardozi, footw ear and other

handicrafts, w hich are known w orldw ide.

Agra merits to be developed and promoted as a'model tourist destination'to enhance Agra's prosperity

besides opening new vistas of employment. Our culturalheritage and monuments need to be

a g g r e s s i v e l y m a r k e t e d , b o t hnationally and internationally by

adopting a cohesive and proactiveapproach by estab l ish ing in ter-

departmental coordination.

A statutori ly empow ered body isneeded to coordinate by taking

effective steps to project Agra as atourist friendly city w ith all modern
