Why you Conjugate Verbs
Verb agrees with the person doing the action
It also has to agree according to the tense you are speaking in. (present, future, past)
Je jouer au football americain = un-conjugated
Je joue au football americain = conjugated

Why you use Adverbs
First adverbs are used to describe a verb
It can also modify an adjective
Nous jouons rarement au basket = we rarely play basketball
