AND MUCH MUCH MORE...

APRIL 2011 newsletter

Another Jam Packed, exciting month for us at Adventure Eyes. Between developing the site(s), chatting to lots of lovely people, supporting various events and traveling around the country itʼs been a busy one!

Adventure Eyes is evolving each day. In the last few weeks dozens more Adventure Pages have been added including pages in the Lake District, Climbing in Devon and Kite Sports in Cornwall which is proving particularly popular. For those of you that want your infoʼ ʻsharpishʼ, weʼve also now introduced a ʻQuick Searchʼ tool to both the main site and the Blog site. Talking of the Blog... this has now been developed significantly so that our mobile users can access more information. Thereʼs also new sections for articles and updates including the ʻAdventure Snippetsʼ, the ʻStudentʼs Cornerʼ and a section for those ʻWorking with Adventureʼ.

News Updates continue through the Blog, Facebook and Twitter and itʼs proving pretty effective! We are now approaching 40,000 hits for the last month! Weʼve also now extended our Twitter Newsfeed to include some of the individuals and organisations that are featured on Adventure Eyes. Memberʼs are invited to give their recommendations for places, individuals and organisations that provide a quality, friendly service for the Outdoor Adventure market. So if youʼve stayed somewhere memorable (for the right reasons!), picked up some kit from a shop that sells what you need, and knows what theyʼre talking about, or even learnt something on a course that has stayed with you and inspired you in any way, then let us know.

Weʼve got questions running on the facebook page and in the forum so feel free to add your suggestions to these.

Weʼve had a number of organisations choose to be part of Adventure Eyes based on Memberʼs suggestions. So with that in mind weʼve decided to REWARD you for it...So we have now set up a system where members will receive a gear voucher for each organisation that chooses to become part of Adventure Eyes following their recommendation. The organisations also receive a special rate for being recommended so everyoneʼs a winner! There are more details about this on the forum.

The Big E 2011 expedition got off to a fantastic start and Tim Mosedale has been keeping us up to date on their progress as and when he can. They have all reached Everest Base Camp and all is looking good for a summit attempt for all in the next few weeks. Weʼll be eagerly keeping track of their progress and publishing it on the Adventure Eyes Blog. Keep your fingers crossed for a safe and successful summit bid later on in May.

The Epic Tri lads blew us all away with their incredible endurance challenge this month. In less than a week the boys ran the Bob Graham round in the Lake District (42 peaks), cycled from John O Groats to Landʼs End (874miles) and then promptly headed through to paddle from Devizes to Westminster (125miles). A truly ʻEpicʼ event and they successfully raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK. Money is still being donated though so donʼt hold back...You will find further details on the Blog.

The Twirlies on Tour is the next key event on the calendar. Starting off on Monday 2nd May, Judy Whiteside and Gail Todd will set off to complete the Coast to Coast challenge to raise money for Mountain Rescue England & Wales. Various Mountain Rescue Teams will be heading out to cheer them on along the way. Famous mountaineer Chris Bonnington will also be walking with them for a section of their journey. As usual, we will be following and supporting all of the way.

Adventure Information Packs will also be published this month. These infoʼ packs will give you handy details to access, download and print . Ideal for the times when youʼre out and about without your gadgets, gismos and an internet connection! So next time youʼre searching for somewhere to stay or a shop to replace a forgotten bit of kit, youʼll have the info at your finger tips. The packs will be freely accessible but we are going to have a donation system in place for the Mountain Rescue and the RNLI. Just imagine what we could all achieve if each person donated the equivalent of a cup of coffee each time they downloaded a pack!

So, weʼre looking forward to another exciting month ahead and we hope you continue to enjoy being part of the Adventure Eyes journey too. As ever our thanks go to those that continue to help and support along the way.

Until next time...adventure-eyes.com
