Lisa BarlowAfter being off work for a period of time I decided to undertake courses

in Holistic Therapies, which would allow me to combine my studies

while still looking after my children. I started with short courses and

then progressed onto a CIBTAC Level 3 qualification in Massage. After

successfully achieving this qualification, it has given me the confidence and skills to progress further with my learning journey and my chosen career. I am now studying a Level 3 Award in Education & Training to allow me to go on and teach Level 2 courses in Holistic Therapies. The business skills that the L3 CIBTAC qualification has given me have been invaluable and allowed me to fully understand what is needed when starting up a business. I have recently set up my own holistic therapies business providing a range of treatments and therapies.

Michelle RobertsI have been attending Sutton Community Academy Further Education on and off for the last eight years whilst bringing up my children. I’ve attended courses ranging from pure relaxation e.g. Flower Painting and Jewellery Making, to accredited courses, such as Crystals and Reiki. At the beginning of 2014 I found myself feeling a bit lost as my children now had jobs of their own and I was wondering what to do with my life. As I’d always had an interest in Holistic Therapies I signed up for some taster sessions in Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Hopi Ear Candling and Colour Therapy. I enjoyed all the classes I attended and decided that I wanted to become a Holistic Therapist. After attending the above courses I progressed to the Reiki Level 3 Diploma. The course was in-depth and at times challenging. After not completing an exam since leaving school I found studying and the course work daunting at times. However, with the support of my tutor and the Academy I successfully passed the course, which gave me such a sense of achievement. At the beginning of the year I wouldn’t have thought any of this possible and I can’t thank the Academy enough.

Jaydan MoslerMy name is Jaydan Mosler and I attended the Dukeries Campus for 2 years where I completed a Maintenance Operations NVQ Diploma Level 2. The Construction Department is dedicated to giving young students like myself the skills to succeed in the Construction Industry.I am living proof of this as I have started a 3 year joinery apprenticeship with local award winning construction company Robert Woodhead Ltd. Fantastic college to attend, great teachers, great learning for all.
