Land Development and Infrastructure

For Witteveen+Bos infrastructure projects offer creative challenges. Our company is in the forefront ofcivil engineering and construction works; on land, in the water and underground. We have participatedin major projects on roads and highways, transportation, tunneling and building projects.

Witteveen+Bos Indonesia has been involved in the development of large scale urban areas in theformer intertidal zone and offshore the present coast west of Jakarta. Since 1982 we are working onthe 1,200 ha Pantai Indah Kapuk area, comprising feasibility studies, designs, constructionmanagement and operational assistance to the developer.

Crude palm oil and container terminal,BatamSurveys, detailed design, tenderdocuments, tendering and constructionsupervision for a new palm oil/liquid bulkand general cargo terminal at Kabil, BatamIsland. Witteveen+Bos also prepared thedesign and tender documents for thecontainer terminal at Batam.

Total waterways transportation and deepsea coal terminal South-SumatraCivil engineering for pre-feasibility study intoa new, 140 km long canal for thetransportation of 20 million tones coal

annually. The civil engineering designincludes design of the canal, bankprotection, 6 locks, 5 bridges, a loadingterminal at the beginning of the canal and adeep sea terminal for coal handling.

Pulau Baai, BengkuluDevelopment of a sheltered harbor includingdredging and re-aligning of an accesschannel as well as construction of mooringfacilities. Surveys, soil investigations,hydraulic model testing, design, tenderingand construction supervision of a newharbour, including dredging of entrancechannel, breakwaters, quay wall.

Maluku jetty const ruction programmeFor the Maluku province a design was madeof a standardized jetty, that could beconstructed in series, with local labour andmaterials. The project comprised planning,design, tendering and constructionsupervision of 18 jetties for islands spreadover the Maluku archipelago.

Technical Assistance Dredging WorksTarjun PlantPreparation of design, tender documentsand dredging contract for the dredgingworks in the vicinity of the Tarjun loadingfacilities in Kota-Baru East-Kalimantan. Theservices also include the guidance of thetender procedure, evaluation of tenderssubmitted and supervision of the works.

Feasibility study extension of harbourBatu AmparFor the development of Batam island, BIDAwanted to expand the general cargofacilities in the harbour of Batu Ampar. Afeasibility study, for the viability of such an

expansion, is executed.

Satui - River Port Feasibility StudyCarry out a feasibility study to determine thelocation of the Muara Satui coal loadoutstation, either along the river or along the

coast. The study included preparationprogramme of requirements preliminarydesigns of river loadout option and offshoreloadout option, including coal handlingequipment, technical evaluation of eachoption, preparation of cost estimates andrecommendations.

Tual Fishery Port , Tual, EasternIndonesiaEngineering design of jetty and concretestructures. Preparation of CAD drawingsand technical specifications.

Pantai Indah Kapuk land reclamationSurveys, feasibility study and design ofreclamation by hydraulic fill and a poldersystem; land development and drainage;environmental impact statement; powersupply and water quality studies; design ofmarina, pumping stations; constructionmanagement; assistance to manufacturer ofscrew pumps.

Kapuknaga Indah Land DevelopmentProject Stage 1, West JavaSite investigation (soil, topography,bathymetry, hydrographic, environmental)feasibility study, master plan, detaileddesigns, tender documents for a landreclamation project (50/50onshore/offshore) for urbanization,recreation and industrial development,geotechnics, coastal engineering,hydrology, earthquake and tsunami impact,laboratory testing of sea defence, cost

Kapuknaga Indah Land DevelopmentProject - Stage 2, West Java - DKI areaDetailed design of sector I and II in DKIJakarta area, comprising management,supervision and specifications of surveycontracts, design of internal watermanagement system, determination of

Inland waterways project, Central andEast-KalimantanTechnical and economic feasibility study ofimprovements to 5 canals in Central

Cikupa Land Development, West JavaConceptual design of water managementsystem of 2 sectors (total 110 ha) includingretention basin, drainage lay out, generationof alternatives, preliminary cost estimates.

Seaside resort Ancol, JakartaSurveys, design, tender documents,construction supervision of reclamationworks for a recreation area; conceptualdesign of a marina; detailed design of 300ha additional reclamation and 2500 m ofbreakwaters; design of flood control anddrainage measures; pumping station andretention basins; soil and hydrographicsurveys; sea defence design; coastalengineering.

Water and Sanitation

Water is entangled to our lives in many ways. Everyday we are faced with the need of drinking water

and discharging of our sewerage. For many industries water is the base of the processes involvingproduction or cooling. At a larger scale good quality of life is brought by good quality of environment,in which proper water is essential. Witteveen+Bos understands these needs and problems in all itsperspectives and knows how to handle water in all its presences. Ciliwung Integrated Urban and RiverManagement Pro jectProject management for demonstrationprojects in Bidara Cina Jakarta to combinehydraulic regulation of the Ciliwung riverwith urban development of the river bank aspart of Ciliwung Action Plan.

Quick Reconnaissance StudyA Quick Reconnaissance Study to help the

Government of Indonesia in preparing anaction plan for coping with floods in thefuture. The study consists of an assessmentof the extent of the latest flood disaster, anassessment of measures, a cost benefitanalysis and dissemination of the results.
