    OBJECTIVES

We students taking Additional Mathematics are required to carry out a

project work while we are in Form 5.This year the Curriculum Development

Division, Ministry of Education has prepared four tasks for us. We are to chooseand complete only ONE task based on our area of interest. We have to

complete the project work individually. Upon completion of the Additional

Mathematics Project Work, we are to gain valuable experiences and able to:

Apply and adapt a variety of problem solving strategies to solve routine

    and non-routine problems

Experience classroom environments which are challenging, interesting

and meaningful and hence improve their thinking skills.

Experience classroom environments where knowledge and skills are

applied in meaningful ways in solving real-life problems Experience classroom environments where expressing ones mathematical

thinking, reasoning and communication are highly

    encouraged and expected

Experience a classroom environment that stimulate and enhances

    effective learning.

Acquire effective mathematical communication through oral and writing,

and to use the language of mathematics to express mathematical ideas

    correctly and precisely

Enhance acquisition of mathematical knowledge and skills through

problem-solving in ways that increase interest and confidence Prepare ourselves for the demand of our future undertakings and in

    workplace

Realize that mathematics is an important and powerful tool in solving real-

life problems and hence develop positive attitude towards mathematics.

Train ourselves not only to be independent learners but also to collaborate,

to cooperate, and to share knowledge in an engaging and healthy

    environment

Use technology especially the ICT appropriately and effectively

Train ourselves to appreciate the intrinsic values of mathematics and to

become more creative and innovative Realize the importance and the beauty of mathematics.

We are expected to submit the project work within a monthfrom the first day the

task is being administered to us. Failure to submit the written report will result in us

    not receiving certificate.

    APPRECIATION

First of all, I would like to say thank you to my friends, teachers and

parents for giving me their full support in making this project successful.

Not forgotten to my family for providing everything, such as money,

to buy anything that are related to this project work and their advise, which

is the most needed for this project. Internet, books, computers and all that

act as my source to complete this project. They also supported me and

encouraged me to complete this task so that I will not procrastinate during

    doing this project work.

Next, I would like to thank my teacher, Miss Boon Ee Siang for

guiding me and my friends throughout this project. We had some difficulties

in doing this task, but she taught us patiently and gave me guidance

throughout the journey until we knew what to do. She tried her best to help

us until we understand what we supposed to do with the project work.

Besides, my friends who were doing the same project as mine and

shared our ideas. They were helpful that when we combined and discussed

together, but however, this task was done individually.

Last but not least, any party which involved either directly or indirect

    in completing this project work.

    Thank you everyone.

    COMMENTS:

A traditional list of immediate "basic needs" is food (including water), shelter and

clothing. Many modern lists emphasize the minimum level of consumption of 'basic

needs' of not just food, water, and shelter, but also sanitation, education and health care.

The basic needs for every living person in this world are food, house (rental) and

transportation (for travel to gain the income).

According to my monthly income, food took up the largest value of allocation of

income because we need to eat food every day to live while the transportation took up

second largest value of allocation of income because my brother and I go to school

everydayby using the public transport and also using the concept of car pooling, the cost

transportation can be reducing. Moreover, by making use of school facilities and services,

I no need take up many tuition classes. It can help to reduce tuition fees. Lastly, the

recreation took up least value of allocation income because we should save up the

money for useful purpose and not just use it for entertainment only.

Apart from that, this project encourages the students to work together and share their knowledge.

It is also encourage us to collect information from the internet, improving thinking skills and promote

effective mathematical communication. Not only that, I had learned some moral values that I practice.

This project had taught me to responsible on the works that are given to me to be completed. This project

also had made me felt more confidence to do works and not to give up easily when we could not find thesolution for the question. I also learned to be disciplined and punctual, which I was given about a month

to complete this project and I pass it up to my teacher before two weeks. It shows my efficient in

completing the work given. I also enjoy doing this project and it had tighten our friendship. After by

spending countless hours, days and night to finish this project and also sacrificing our time in this two

weeks, I created a poem to express my feelings:

    Additional Mathematics,The killer subject,

    But when we study hard,

It was so easy to understand.

    Additional Mathematics,

    You look so interest,

So unique from the other subjects,

Thats why we like you so much.

    After sacrificing our precious time,

Spirit and energy for this project,

And now,We realized something important from it!!!

We are getting addicted to it,

    Additional Mathematics,

    You are our friend,

    You are our family,

    And you are our life

    WE REALLY LOVE ADDITIONALMATHEMATICS!!!
