Greetings Brothers of the Western Region:

We are excited to announce the 6th Annual Western Region Leadership Academy. The Re-

gion’s Leadership Team has built an empowering and interactive agenda that provides the

tools and resources brothers will need to fully "Fuel the Future.”

MEET US IN LONG BEACH!

We will convene in the “Aquatic Capital of America,” Long Beach, CA, on September 26-27,

2014 at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel. The brothers of the Southern California District

stand ready to serve as excellent hosts!

The academy will provide an opportunity to learn more about and plan against the new

membership process guidelines and tools that will be released in the upcoming fraternal year.

In addition, attendees can expect to engage in a series of informative workshops and action

oriented planning sessions that address new technologies, trends and professional develop-

ment innovations.

WHO SHOULD BE THERE?

Participation in this Leadership Academy marks a very important opportunity for chapter lead-

ership to fuel the Region’s future. Each chapter will be required to send a minimum of one rep-

resentative. Full participation from each chapter strengthens our ability to empower and

equip our membership with the essential leadership skills that elevate our region. More specifi-

cally, this year’s academy offers customized tracks that aim to enhance the performance of

your Chapter Presidents, Vice Presidents, Alpha Advisors, Chapter Deans, Technology Com-

mittees and more.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS YEAR?

This year’s focus will be to ensure that every brother leaves the academy with the tools and

techniques to advance the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. We will engage subject mat-

ter experts as workshop presenters and speakers to ensure that brothers are equipped with

the most innovative and relevant plans of action! Our goal is to avoid “business as usual” and

make lasting impact! It will be most effective if you join us! Let’s fuel the future TOGETHER!

Fraternally,

Russell E. Flye
