Academic Counseling Handbook demonstrates the practical advisory

handbook used by students of English Language Education Department

under the supervision of lecturers of English Language Education

Department. Through this handbook, students can be supervised for

completing their studies properly and on time, as well as department effort

for optimizing students’ communication with their lecturers.

Academic Counseling Handbook displays crucial information for

bolstering department students comprehend department vision, mission, &

strategic goal, student & supervisor identity, and academic & non-academic

achievement. It has been summed up as a guideline for learning process

mentoring and department life atmosphere.

By upholding Islamic and scholar values, the first edition handbook is

entirely expected to be a contribution to The Fountain of Wisdom.

ACADEMIC SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective student supervision requires complex interactions between

students and their supervisors. The blue role of a supervisor is threefold: to

advise students; monitor their academic progress; and act as a mentor. The

following is its delineation:

1. Providing guidance, instruction and encouragement in the Islamic

boarding milieu of their students.

2. Taking part in the evaluation and examination of their students’ progress,

performance and navigation through the requirements of their academic

program with the goal to ensure that their students are successful.

3. Fostering the intellectual and scholarly development of their students.

They also play an important role in providing advice about professional

development and both academic and non-academic passion

opportunities, as they are able, and based upon the student’s career

interests.

Supervising them reflects a longer-term, more substantive

commitment. The intent of this policy is to ensure that students have the

appropriate knowledge to facilitate an excellence scholar.

STUDENT RESPOSIBILITIES

Transitioning into college, student will have new responsibilities:

1. Obtaining an orientation about department life.

2. Obtaining instruction about boarding milieu and educational atmosphere.

3. Introducing the bio to the academic supervisor.

4. Obtaining passion, motivation and creativity development based on student’s competences.

5. Allocating time for sharing with the academic supervisor minimum 5 times within a semester; before filling up Course Selection Sheet (Kartu Rencana

Studi - KRS), taking middle exam card, final exam card, Tahfidz and AKPAM are mandatory time allocation for consulting.

6. Carrying the handbook while counseling with the academic supervisor by authoring student matter in consultation form.

7. Notifying bio changes promptly (if any).
