RACL Activity Class – AC Drawing Watercolor 2018-2019
Teacher: Liu, Katie [email protected] 919-917-3667 WeChat ID: l_katie22
Hi, my name is Katie Liu and I’m a senior at Raleigh Charter High School as well as a RACL alumna! I’ve
been pursuing art for as long as I remember and even took art classes at RACL myself back when I was a
student. Recently, I completed the NC Governor’s School 2018 for visual arts at Meredith College under
Professor Susan Fecho. For my own artwork, I work primarily 2D where I like creating mixed media
pieces combining dry and wet mediums. I also like exploring the use of found objects and structures for
the basis of my 3D works. Watercolor has always been one of my favorite mediums to work with
because of its ease in depicting fluidity and depth. This will be my third year teaching art at RACL and I
am extremely happy to be able to teach another class of excited, young artists.

Class Goal and Students Evaluations
This class is constructed to teach students how to master the skills and techniques of watercolor.
Throughout the year, students will learn a plethora of methods through which to create holistic art
products and about various artists who have impacted the development of the medium. The goal of this
class is to give beginning students a strong foundation in watercolor for which they can later progress
and improve on as well as to challenge experienced students in improving their technique. Each student
will produce a painting every week.
