Dr. S. & S. S. Ghandhy Government Engineering College, Surat is one of the eight new Government Engineering Colleges established in July, 2004 to educate young talent in the field of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communicaon Engineering and Environmental Engineering. The instute offers an outstanding learning environment. Facules are dedicated to provide the student’s global technical capabilies is required for success. The learning experience is catalyzed by the most recent developments in the field and delivered by experienced research oriented teachers and experts from the field. Civil Engineering is a very vast and connuously emerging branch. The department has highly qualified faculty members with well-equipped laboratories of Fluid Mechanics, Transportaon Engineering, Surveying, Environmental Engineering and Engineering Geology. The graduates from the Instute equipped with knowledge and sound technical informaon, refined professional touch, are capable of undertaking the Civil Engineering jobs to meet the challenges of the 21 st Century. Department also offers post graduate course in Water Resource Engineering programme. In real world, the problems of infrastructure can be solved theorecally, but praccally it is difficult due to lack of resources, data base and me required for simulaon. Such problems are so much complex in nature with various parameters which make it difficult to solve experimentally too. The investment in infrastructure brings along its own unique set of challenges. Civil Engineers are at the forefront of facing and tackling these challenges and developing innovave and cost-effecve soluons. Global developments in healthy funconing of society as well as the whole environment. The training programme is an aempt to bring together the researchers, academicians and provide them a plaorm for discussions and deliberaons on the Advances in Civil Engineering for Global Sustainability. The content may be used for the teaching – learning process. Technical experts from renowned Instuons/ Organizaons as well as field expert would be delivering talks in the sessions for technical discussions, case studies and hands on sessions. The course will enable the parcipants upgrade their knowledge on various key aspects of Civil and Structural Engineering including 1) Public and mass transit system. 2) Advanced Surveying – Theodolite & Traversing. 3) Irrigaon and Water Resource Management. 4) Interlinking of River 5) Flood Modeling 1D and 2D 6) Introducon to Repair and Rehabilitaon of Structures. 7) Environmental Management and Audit 8) Applicaon of Opmizaon techniques in Civil Engineering. This workshop is open to all academicians, research scholars, and person from Industry. As the workshop is Interdisciplinary, persons with Civil, Environmental and Applied Sciences background can aend the programme. Research scholars working in the above area are also encouraged to apply. The course is designed for current and future transportaon, water and environmental professionals, decision makers and those involved in above field.
