About the Charity...
BackgroundSerial philanthropist, Charlotte diVita's vision is to help alleviate poverty in developing countries and contribute to the protection of the environment. She created 21st Century Leaders to harness popular culture in order to make a change in the world. Charlotte has inspired leaders in their fields to make a difference by persuading them to provide original artworks, which will be used to create merchandise and sold to raise funds. She also aims to inspire debate on global issues such as poverty alleviation, fair trade, the HIV/AIDS pandemic and protection of the environment.
Brand OverviewWhatever It Takes is a unique artwork campaign launched by 21st Century Leaders Foundation. Over 660 leaders in the worlds of fashion, film, television, art, music and sport have donated their artworks and have signed messages of hope for the future. This artwork is used to design and create a variety of lifestyle products, which are then sold to raise funds through 4,000 retail partners, including Harrods, Selfridges, Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Lane Crawford and David Jones among others.
Whatever It Takes works closely with their leaders to assist and encourage a generation of influencers to take ownership, engage in positive action, raise awareness among their communities, and champion solutions to poverty and environmental degradation.

Ethical Manufacturing21st Century Leaders requires all Whatever It Takes Product suppliers to demonstrate that the manufacturers in their supply chains provide good working conditions for their workers. Even more importantly, 21st Century Leaders raises the bar by also requiring that manufacturers’ downstream suppliers adhere to the same standards, too.
21st Century Leaders takes its core understanding of good labor standards from The International Labor Organization and uses The Ethical Trading Initiative’s Base Code as a tool to assess standards of working conditions.
In order to demonstrate good working conditions, suppliers are independently assessed against the ETI Code, and where necessary, 21st Century Leaders works together with them to improve working conditions through a program of corrective actions and training.
21st Century Leaders recognizes that trading ethically and responsibly so that all in the supply chain benefit is not just a matter of a one-off assessment but of continuous engagement. They work with partner suppliers, manufacturers, independent social verifiers and other stakeholders to ensure compliance.
Our policy on Eco-Friendly Manufacturing - Licensees are expected to make every reasonable effort to continually improve the environmental impact of Whatever It Takes products. Whenever possible, licensees are encouraged to not only meet, but exceed standards. All products manufactured by licensees are subject to a thorough examination before approval is granted.
Our StandardsAll paper and card stock is made from either recycled material or FSC-certified, sustainably-harvested virgin material. Packaging is recyclable and designed to minimize waste.
All inks must be certified non-toxic and considered low in VOC. Where possible, water based inks are used. Whenever appropriate, we encourage our licensees to go further and use vegetable and other natural inks. Dyes for fabrics must meet Oeko-tex standards or equivalent.
Licensees make contractual commitment to deliver products to retail customers by the most direct route possible and in a manner which minimizes damage to the environment.
