Factory Remanufacturing/RepairWe provide performance improvement andincreased value of existing equipment dueto full technical restoration, modernizationand complete component check. We alsohave an effective service network acrossits range of transformer factories anddedicated facilities.

Repairing a transformer, instead ofreplacing it, can in certain cases loweryour capital maintenance cost dramaticallyand provide quicker turnaround thanbuying new.

We work with their customers todevelop a repair plan which goesbeyond replacing worn out parts. Theultimate result is a remanufacturing thatABB calls “as-new” compared to theoriginal.

TrafoSite TestingTM

Our latest development is a Mobile High-Voltage Test System for On-Site Testing ofPower Transformers. Worldwide, it is thefirst 3-phase Mobile High-Voltage TestSystem for Power Transformers based ona static frequency converter which isespecially designed for performing routineand special tests according to standardsas IEC 60060-3, IEC 60076 and IEEE Std.C57.12.00.

Supplemented by the most commondiagnostic methods used under fieldconditions, the Mobile High-Voltage TestSystem enables us to offer a full range oftesting on all types and brands oftransformers from small grid transformersup to the largest step up generatortransformers.

Field Service We provide condition enhancement andon site refurbishment, supply of originalspare parts, tap changer rework, logisticsand transportation, 24 hours a day servicein order to guarantee the maximumavailability of the installation.

We are also your partner in the planningphase. Our professional management ofthe processes and site activity support youin finding the optimal solution. We offer:identification and traceability of equipment,periodic status assessment, conditionbased maintenance, repair andperformance improvement, assetoptimization, outdated material recycling,and user training.

We believe in proactive, preventive andpredictive maintenance. Our fieldpersonnel are trained and certified tohelp you avoid downtime and get youback online as quickly as possible.

Spare PartsHaving critical parts on hand cansignificantly reduce the down-timeassociated with transformer maintenanceand failure. Some of these parts can bepurchased quickly “off-the-shelf” from themanufacturer. Other parts can takemonths to obtain.

Advanced Field ServiceLFH - ABB’s Low Frequency Heat dryingmethod heats a transformer core with anelectrical pulse, creating a vapor actionthat effectively pushes moisture from theinsulation into the oil extending the life timeof a transformer by 33% compared toconventional drying.

Oil reclaiming - Water, acids and sludgeare the oxidation products that cause themost concern for oil ageing. Reclaiming oftransformer oil is a measure to restore theoil’s properties to very near those of newoil.

Advanced diagnostics - Close observationof dissolved gases in the oil and other oilproperties provides the most valuableinformation about transformer health.ABB’s advanced diagnosis analysistypically reveals the severity of theproblem, locate the fault and provide youwith expert advice on what action to take.
