Originally aired live on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1939, the broadcast, featuring Lionel Barrymore and narrated by Orson Welles with the Mercury Theatre group, became a treasured holiday tradition. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge is of a tightfisted old man who is haunted one night by the ghosts of his past, present, and future. Shown the results of his selfish course, he is given the chance to change and make better, not only his own life, but the lives of others. The Belfast Maskers will bring this tradition to life on December 9, 10 & 11.Maskers’ A Christmas Carol, Live Old- Time Radio Show, features, live sound effects and carolers. Also featured will be live 1940s style radio ads for local business performed by the radio players.
