National Eligibility cum Entrance Test The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was being

conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)

till 2018. From 2019 onwards the NEET (UG) will be conducted

by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET (UG) is applicable

for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental

Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of

India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health

and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the

institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS

and JIPMER Puducherry.

NEET will now be a single exam in pen-and-paper mode and the same pattern will be followed as conducted on last

year. The number of languages in which NEET is conducted will also remain the same as last year.

The responsibility of the NTA will limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and

providing All India Rank to the Directorate General Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi, Government of India for the

conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for supplying the result to state/other Counselling

Authorities.

Candidates seeking admission in AFMC for MBBS Course will register online through NEET and they will also have

to register at www.afmc.nic.in. The links of the AFMC websites for registration & online application will be

activated after allotment of Roll Numbers to the candidates appearing in NEET.

Tentative Dates for NEET UG -2019The detailed schedule for JEE Main I, JEE Main II, NEET UG, etc. has been released by National Testing Agency

(NTA). While, JEE Main will be conducted twice a year, the agency will be conducting NEET 2019

only once and the mode for NEET UG exam will remain offline.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET UG1. Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRI’s), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI’s), Persons of IndianOrigin

(PIO’s) & Foreign Nationals are eligible for appearing in the NEET (UG), 2019.

2. The candidate must have completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on

or before 31st December, 2019 i.e. the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./B.D.S. Course.

3. The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission in MBBS/BDS seats shall be 25 years as on the date

of examination with a relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category.

4. The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and

English individually.

5. The candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and

Biology/ Bio-technology at the qualifying examination for General category (GC), 45% marks for General-

PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ ST-PH/ OBC-PH.

6. The candidates belonging to the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana shall also be eligible for 15% All

India Quota seats from the academic year 2018-19 onward.

Test Pattern of NEET UG

1. The NEET (UG) shall consist of one paper containing 180 objective type questions of 720 marks from

Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

2. Every question has four options with single correct answer.

3. For each correct response the candidate will get 4 marks.

4. For each incorrect response 1 mark will be deducted from the total score.

5. More than one answer indicated in a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively

marked.

6. Duration of the paper would be 3 hours (10:00 am to 01:00 pm).

7. The candidate can opt for question paper in either of the following languages: Hindi/ English/ Gujarati/

Marathi/ Oriya/ Bengali/ Assamese/ Telugu/ Tamil/ Kannada/ Urdu.

Note: NTA is also establishing a countrywide network of test practice centres (TPCs) for students of rural

areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. From 1st September, 2018 on

every Saturday & Sunday, various schools/engineering colleges with computer are being started practicing

of tests for any student can avail the facility free of charge. The practice tests will help the candidates to

familiarize themselves with logging into the system and how to use computer at the time of actual test. The

TPCs will have a downloaded Computer Based Test (CBT) which will be similar to the actual test to be

conducted on the exam day.

Analysis of NEET UG-2018

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – 2018 was conducted by the Central Board of

Secondary Education (CBSE) as per regulations framed under the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 and

the Dentists Act-1948 as both amended in 2016 for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in

Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under

the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions

established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry. The mode for NEET UG

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India will conduct the

Counselling for Online Counselling to 15% All India Quota Seats, Deemed Universities,

Central Universities, Seats of ESIC and AFMC, BHU & AMU. Candidates may visit website

www.mcc.nic.in for further information. Candidates will apply for 15% All India Quota

seats as per the directions of DGHS and Counselling will be stopped soon the seats are

exhausted.

For State quota and other seats falling under the ambit of States, candidates may apply to

their domicile states and a merit list as per State rules and based on All India Rank will be

prepared by concerned Counselling Authorities. The counselling for Private Medical

Colleges will also be conducted by the concerned State Counselling Authority.
