Thinking about the financial crisis of 2008, please tell me which of the following comes closest to your opinion.
Some people say that the financial crisis was caused by misguided federal policies which encouraged
banks to offer home loans to people who could not afford to pay them back.
Others say that the financial crisis was caused by a lack of regulation over the financial industry and that Wall Street bankers took advantage of the system by
offering risky loans for their own personal profit.

Thinking again about financial crisis of 2008, please tell me which of the following was the greatest cause of the crisis
Government regulations that forced banks to make millions of risky home
loans.
Greedy Wall Street executives who gambled on the housing market bubble,
endangering the financial system.
Natural economic cycles that all but guaranteed that a recession would
occur.
Whos to blame? Wall Street greed trumps
misguided federal policies by 15 points,
but hang on.

Please tell me if you agree or disagree with the following statement. Although the Obama Administration claims that lack of regulation caused the
financial crisis of 2008, the real cause was misguided federal policy that encourage banks to offer loans to people who could not pay them back,
leading to a nationwide real estate crash.

-53The Dodd-Frank Act was aimed at big banks, but its crippling legal and administrative costs have caused many small banks to close or
reduce lending which has harmed local economies and made it increasingly difficult for small businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive.

Dodd Frank created a new type of bailout fund for big banks called Orderly Liquidation Authority. Instead of requiring big banks to go through the same bankruptcy shutdown procedures as all other
companies in America, banks are allowed an exception to the rules through OLA.
Before the Dodd-Frank Act, over 75% of banks offered free checking. However after the Dodd-Frank regulations took affect
only 39% now offer free checking.
Many experts say that the Dodd-Frank Act was aimed at Wall Street but hit Main Street.
Most traditional banks are not willing to make small dollar loans. This leaves many working families with no option to cover unexpected short
term expenses except for the lifeline of taking out a short term loan.1462 -48

Dodd-Frank was supposed to shrink banks that were deemed too big to fail but by driving out smaller banks, the reality is it made big Wall
Street banks even bigger.
The Dodd-Frank Act does not end bailouts for too-big-to-fail banks. In fact, it makes those bailouts a requirement of federal law.

were the root cause of the Financial Crisis of 2008.2061 -41
