American manufacturers face global challenges.

1. High domestic cost structures

2. Unreliable global suppliers, inferior quality

3. High fully-loaded labor costs

4. Seasonal or erratic customer demand

5. High purchasing, sourcing and supplier management costs

6. Static productivity gains

7. Fear that overseas suppliers won’t meet your quality and time requirements

8. Sourcing that isn’t flexible with demand, creating higher warehouse, inventory and personnel costs

As a leading OEM manufacturer services company, Asia America lowers OEM’s costs for international sourcing, quality control testing, engineering, kitting, subassembly, supplier management, warehousing and JIT inventory management.

Asia America:

1. Reduces your cost structure

be more globally competitive.

Asia America solves your manufacturing challenges by lowering your costs and improving your productivity. As a result, you’re more globally competitive. Asia America gives you both the peace of mind and confidence that you will continue to lower manufacturing costs while improving productivity and quality.

Asia America gives you peace of mind

“I tried overseas sourcing before and

it didn’t work.”

Let’s face it, global sourcing isn’t for the naïve or

inexperienced. The best way to excel in global sourcing is

having 25 years of experience with a broad

cross section of manufacturing

relationships. Asia America’s team on the ground

in Asia assures you of high quality sourcing.

“I can’t afford to make a mistake. What if it

doesn’t work?”

Asia America puts its money where its mouth is. Unlike brokers, AAC owns your

component inventory until it’s delivered JIT. They are fully responsible for its quality

and on-time delivery. With decades of global sourcing

experience, AAC knows how to get your high quality parts here when you need them.

“I don’t have large parts volume.”

Most high volume OEM suppliers set up their own

plants overseas and frankly, that is the most cost effective

solution for large part volumes. AAC built its

business sourcing lower volume, highly engineered industrial components with

varied demand patterns.

All five major components of this starter are sourced and subassembled by Asia America for a Fortune 100 domestic manufacturer. Asia America saved this customer approximately 30% over its former supplier for this assembly.

To provide their customers with a reliable source of parts, Asia America owns and maintains inventory in their facilities, and in some cases, even consigns inventory at their customer’s facility. Shipments are made at customer defined intervals while meeting their ‘just in time’ needs. Asia America is accustomed to working with customer inventory programs – like Kanban.

testing and quality control

To ensure all parts meet your stringent specifications, Asia America built a complete Quality Control lab. In addition to the inspections done at the manufacturing facilities worldwide, an additional ‘receiving inspection procedure’ is developed for each incoming part by you and Asia America. Your detailed procedures are performed before any components are stocked for shipment.

Asia America provides solutions that improve production line efficiencies by providing components and subassemblies to point of use in your manufacturing facility.

Your kits arrive with parts sequenced and preassembled for the most efficient and least complex build. This reduces material handling costs, supplier management costs and improves quality before you even start production.

the Asia America approach.

Challenge:A tier-one supplier to a Fortune 500 heavy equipment manufacturer sought a one-stop solution to reduce inventory, get more product out the door with less labor, decrease material handling and reduce the complexity of their manufacturing process.

Approach: Asia America’s solution involved the reduction of 70+ parts into three kits for a model build. The parts were delivered daily from the Asia America owned inventories. The customer took title to the inventory when it was consumed. The kits were built in advance, allowing the assembly facility to manage spikes in production requirements.

Outcome:The benefits to the customer were substantial:1. With Asia America’s kitting capabilities, the customer

managed just three kits instead of 70+ components. This increased end of line production by 40%.

2. Material handling was reduced by 85%.3. The customer’s inventory ownership decreased by

90%.

the Asia America approach.

Outcome:The results were amazing - zero defects. The savings to the customer were significant:

1. Production line efficiency improved by over 40% due to the reduced labor needed to build a finished starter.

2. The production cell was consolidated into a smaller area. (The customer no longer needed a tear-down area for rejects.)

3. The net cost of a starter was reduced by the amount of all the scrapped parts they would have to pay for due to their less efficient assembly. For remanufactured starters, this helped the customer reduce the amount of seeding in a starter. The reduction resulted in savings of $110,000 a month on seeding.

4. Asia America now provides 2- and 3-piece kits to the production line and this component has become one of the most profitable lines for the customer.

Case Study | Fortune 100 Domestic Supplier - Starter

Challenge:The components of this housing assembly were already sourced by Asia America. During an onsite customer visit, Asia America noticed the customer had hundreds of rejected starter motors and learned that for years, the customer had a 40% failure rate on final testing due to air leaks around a piston and O-ring assembly.

Approach: Asia America built a press tool for the piston/O-ring process and offered to subassemble the components, pressure test, kit and then send to customer.
