Chapter 3: General specifications of product

3.1 - Shortdescription of

product

o EVOLIUM™ A9100 BTS Evolution offers a wide range of configurations such as:

One sector in a Compact 1 (CPT1) cabinet with 4 TRX max capacity.Up to 3 sectors in a MINI cabinet with 8 TRX max capacity.Up to 4 sectors in a Compact 2 (CPT2) cabinet with 12 TRX max capacity.Up to 6 sectors in a MEDI cabinet with 12 TRX max capacity.Integration of baseband part (IDU) of microwave EVOLIUM™ A9400.

o Racks are delivered with lifting anchors and in upright position.

o Cabinets may be installed back to back or back to a wall. They are positionned onlevelling plates and fixed to the floor.

o The cabinet has no side doors, access to interior is only from front side (all cablingaccessible from front side).

o The in-and-outs for antenna cables are on the bottom of the cabinet. 8 x 7/16antenna connectors female under the BTS inside the plinth (cover plates for unusedholes)

o The in-and-outs for external cables (Abis, clock, external alarms, power, ... ) are atthe lower side of the cabinet inside the plinth.

o EVOLIUM™ A9100 BTS Evolution is connected to AC power supply with 3 or 5wires. AC connection is located on side compartment.

o AC supply: All wires L,N,PE or L1,L2,L3,N,PE must be connected to terminals inLPFU, max. cross section 6 mm² for ferrule. To central GND point M8 at the bottomonly main earthing strip must be connected.

o Possible AC networks are: TNS, TNC or TT. For TT system external selectivedifferential current breakers are mandatory.

o The back panels of all subracks are identical. A common interface for all moduleshas also been defined. No dedicated locations on back panels for each module arepreassigned; the module location within the BTS is driven by engineering rules, easyfront cabling, optimisation of thermal dissipation, easy assembly and extensions onsite.

o All active modules have their own integrated DC/DC power supply and each one isintegrated into one mechanical unit. Each basic module supports hot insertion andextraction. No service interruption is thus necessary during most maintenanceinterventions.

o Up to 3 MW IDUs (14TE x 6U) could be integrated in the AC/DC subrack (auxiliarycompartment).

o Possibility to integrate optional products inside the BTS :- NTL, PDU of RX TMA, PDU of Range Extension Kit (REK) TX/RX, up to 4 MW IDUs(19” x 1U).

(*) Heat exchangers arrangement inside BTS:

• CPT1, MINI and CPT2 versions: one exchanger is installed (2 exchangers ifmore than 6 TREs for MINI and CPT2 versions).

• MEDI BTS:- Up to 6 TREs: 2 exchangers are installed.- More than 6 TREs: 3 exchangers are installed.

(* *) average heating power during BTS operation. In warm-up phase, heatingconsumption will be:

• 950VA for CPT1 BTS,• 1900 VA (2x950VA) for MINI or CPT2 BTS,• 2850VA (3x950VA) for MEDI BTS,This may also occur at very low ambient temperature or with reduced traffic atlow temperature. Therefore, heaters will be foreseen for cold countries only:• 1 heater for CPT1 BTS.• 2 heaters for MINI and CPT2 BTS.• 3 heaters for MEDI BTS.

Nota: Heat exchanger (HEX2) never operates in time with heater (HEAT2)

3.4 - Available DCpower for optional

3.7 - Clearancerecommendations

Sufficient clearance must be allowed for handling, maintenance and inspectionprocedures, and for equipment cooling purposes.

• In particular, in the front of the BTS a clearance of approximately 1 m isrecommended to allow handling and 1,2 m if there is a high wall limiting aircirculation.

• At left and right side: 100 mm(600 mm on the right side of BTS compartment only for mounting anddismantling)(600 mm on cable entry side)

• At the top: 300 mm

• At the rear: 100 mm

3.8 - Lightning andover voltage

RF lightning protection • RF interfaces are protected.1 kV/µs, 40 kA (isn, 8/20 µs) ; quarter wave stub

AC lightning protection • AC interfaces are protected. 15 kA each phase

20 kA neutral (isn, 8/20 µs).

PCM lightning protection • PCM transmission interfaces G703 are protected.800 V, 5 kA (isn, 8/20 µs).

Alarm lightning protection • The alarm inputs (from 1 to 3) inside auxiliary compartment arelightning protected.

3.9 - Externalconnectionindications

The external connections or ways are located:- for power, ground (connection), 2 Mbit/s terrestrial and external alarms

(way), under the auxiliary compartment.- for antenna feeders (connections) under the BTS compartment.

The plate for cable entry has 8 holes diameter 55 mm (antenna feeders) and 5holes diameter 32 mm (2Mbit/s or microwave, alarms, power and groundcables).

For optional TMA, the Bias T is located after the lightning protection (1/4 wave)inside the plinth of the BTS.

3.10 - Externalalarm indications Each BTS provides 3 alarm inputs for external functions outside the BTS

cabinet and 8 alarm inputs for optional products and specific functions insidethe BTS cabinet which can be adapted to the individual requirements of eachcustomer by the customer himself.

• External alarms are connected within the BTS connection area. Alarmsconnection is made easy for customer owing to self fastening contacts whichrequire neither a pre-equipped cable (only stripping) nor an intermediateconnection point.

• Alarms are insulated by optocouplers from BTS. A reference to ground isrequired, the BTS ground must be connected to the ground of the power supplyby means of a plug that resides in the connection area.

• The alarm levels are defined as follows:- alarm inactive: 0...<5V alarm active: 5...24V- A current of approximately 1 mA flows from the alarm input to ground if the

alarm input is pulled to ground.- Open alarm inputs are regarded as active.- The inputs are defined according to TNV and are permanently protected

against +/- 72 V DC.- An alarm line must stay longer than 1 ms in the active status in order to be

detected as active.- It is possible to pull the alarm inputs with software on active or inactive level in

order to check them.

• A special pre-equipped alarm interface cable is not necessary. A cable withshielding braid connected to GND by means of earthing clamps will besufficient..- Alarms for optional products inside the BTS: 8 twisted pairs with cross sectionfrom 0,2 to 1 mm².- Alarms for external functions outside the BTS: 3 twisted pairs with crosssection from 0,2 to 1,5 mm².
