In order to obtain planning permission which would enable the scheme to be constructed, an Environmental Statement (ES) needs to be produced. An ES is part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) which considers the impact of the scheme across 13 pre-determined topics. This ensures that measures to mitigate against environmental impacts are implemented.
