Greetings from your Cdr, How time flies! It is hard to believe that the end of June is here already and we are planning our out-ings for the 4th of July. It has been a busy summer so far, and Ed and I have only been on the water twice this year (neither time on our boat). We are hoping to have our boat, the Dreamcatcher, at our dock at TYC by the end of June, winds permitting! A big Thank You to all who attended our annual picnic at TYC. It was really nice to see such a great turn out of seasoned and new members, and guests as well. I am very happy to report that we have 26-6 month new members. I want to personally welcome each of you to the Toledo Squadron. Even though we are not having our General meetings in July and August, we are planning other activities so that you may meet and get acquainted with our Squadron members. We will be in touch and advise you of the dates and times of these activities. Speaking of activities, please be sure to refer to this newsletter for upcoming squadron functions. To name a few, there is the Rendezvous to Harsen's Island July 8th thru 12th, and then to Sarnia Bay the 13th thru the 17th of July. District 29 Summer Council is the weekend of July 22 - 24th, to be held in Sandusky. This always is a good time and an excellent opportunity to meet members from other squadrons. August 5th and 6th is our annual Commander's Rendezvous, which will be held at the Toledo Yacht Club Pavilion. The theme this year is Beach Party II. There will be lots of fun, good times, games, karoke, and good food. How well do you remember the 60's era? Come share favorite memories and be prepared for some trivia! Please also note that there is an Island-hopping cruise planned for August 20th on the Good Time, leaving from Sandusky to Kelly's Island and then to Put-In-Pay and back to Sandusky. There is more information on this rendezvous in the Breeze. This sounds like a very exciting adventure and I hope that we can get a large group to participate. Also, one more thing...There is a letter that will be sent out (if not already) for all members to indicate their preference as to whether you would prefer for the Breeze Newsletter to be mailed or electronically sent to you. Please indicate if you would like your copy to be mailed by returning the enclosed post card in the letter ASAP. Your request will be honored and there will be no interruption in your receiving the Breeze by mail. Those of you who wish your Breeze sent to you electronically, it will be sent to you to the current e-mail in our new Roster, If there is any change in your e-mail address, please notify our Editor, Tami, ASAP. We have many activities planned this summer, and I hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend these functions. Have a safe and enjoyable boating season, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible during the summer months. Cdr Linda

Dear Toledo Sail and Power Squadron (TSPS) mem-ber:

Hello and happy summer to all. I hope that this letter finds you warm and comfortable, enjoying a light sum-mer breeze with your favorite beverage. Over the years the Rendezvous Committee has tried to find new and exciting events for our boating and non boating members. And, yes. . . we have had some great times touring The SS Boyer, traveling up and down the Maumee River on the Canal Boat and lovely The Arawanna Princess. Well, as luck would have it, TSPS members have another opportunity to enjoy themselves on the water. The TSPS Rendezvous Committee would like to extend an invitation to TSPS members to join us for an Island Hopping Cruise on Saturday, August 20, 2011, aboard the Good Time I (www.goodtimeboat.com). The Good Time I will leave Sandusky at 0930 and travel to Kelly’s Island for a short visit on the island. We will be on Kelly’s Island from 1030 to 1200. While on Kelly’s, enjoy Brandy Alexander’s at the Pump House, visit the Gla-cier Grooves, or rent a golf cart/or rent the tram and go on an island adventure. The Good Time I will pick up TSPS Island Hoppers at 1200 and travel to Put-In-Bay (PIB) for a one hour cruise. While in route to PIB, we will enjoy a catered luncheon. The Good Time I will arrive at PIB at 1 PM (1300) for more Erie Island fun. Enjoy the sights, sounds and treasure of this wonderful historic island. Visit the Perry’s Museum, play some putt –putt golf, visit Heinemann’s Winery, sit on a park bench enjoying the scenes of the Key West of the North. Again, golf cart/tram rentals are available on PIB. TSPS Island Hoppers will be on PIB from 1PM (1300) to 4:30PM (1630). At 4:30PM (1630), the Island Hoppers will depart PIB, travel back to Kelly’s Island to pick up other passengers from the Good Time I. The Good Time I will then leave Kelly’s Island for a one hour trip back to Sandusky, arriving at 6:30 PM (1830). The price for the Island Hopping Cruise is only $29.50. Joyce Mease will be taking reservations at 419-382-4401; cruise reservations must be made by August 8, 2011. NO RESERVATION CAN BE MADE AFTER AUGUST 8, 2011. All cruise reservations must be se-cured with payment in advance. Send your check or money order to Felicia Evans, 2266 Falling Waters Lane, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Any reservation that is not secured with a cruise payment will be cancelled after August 8, 2011. If you love the Erie Islands like I do . . . you will jump at the chance to be on the water, enjoy summer time weather, and spend time with fellow TSPS members.

Sincerely P/C Felicia Evans, AP

Dear Fellow Squadron Members, Thank you for your continued support of the Toledo Sail and Power Squadron. As you know, The Breeze Newsletter is an important part of our organization. It is the tool we use to keep you informed. Unfortunately, the cost of publishing and distributing The Breeze has become a major expense, accounting for nearly 21% of our operating budget. In order to contain these costs we are asking for your help. You can help us reduce these costs by agreeing to receive The Breeze electronically. These changes will take place beginning with the October issue. If you want to continue to receive The Breeze in the mail, please contact Cdr Linda by returning the postcard in a letter that will be sent to you soon. The postcard will need to be returned by September 1, 2011.

Please note that if we do not receive your returned card by the above date, you will no longer receive a hard-copy of The Breeze in the mail, only electronically. Thanks again for your support of the Toledo Sail and Power Squadron. Sincerely, Cdr Linda Toledo Sail and Power Squadron E-Mail: [email protected] Home: (419)726-4105
