The Volkswagen UP!Why Its VWs Most Important
Ever Citycar.
The Up is one of the most
important cars Volkswa-gen has launched in recent
years, offering a well thought out and compact package thats economical, easy to
drive and appealing to those downsizing from larger cars.
Its nimble, distinctive, well built and represents good
value for money. SEAT and Skoda both have their own versions, called the Mii and
the Citigo.

There are two engine outputs of the same 1.0 litre petrol triple on offer, a
super-frugal stop-start Blue Motion edi-tion with 59bhp delivering 67.1mpg and
a 74bhp option delivering 65.5mpg, which we were able to drive. Both ver-
sions emit less than 100g/km. There will also soon be a 69bhp model that runs
on compressed natural gas (unlikely to be sold in Britain) and VW has already
announced a battery-electric version for 2013. There will eventually be diesels,
but they dont have top priority because of their cost and weight. The base petrol
version is commendably light at 929kg, ready to go.
The Up! will certainly count for a large percentage of Volkswagens road vehicle
sales during its period of sale, however long it lasts. With its cutesy looks and
impeccable charm, its likely to win over the hearts of new drivers, young mums
and OAPs alike. Its something Volkswa-gen have already done however, with the
Lupo. Weve recapped the hugely suc-cesful predecessor over the page!

LUPOThe Older and Incredibly Successful Brother to the UP!
The Lupo was sold from 1999-2005 and was one of Vpolkswagens first entries into the Supermini market.
The smallest car before the Lupo was the Polo which
nowadays is as big as the Mk1 Golf. It was a success from the off with sales high
and resale values even higher, finiding a cheap one
nowadays is a tough chal-lenge. They were sold with 1.0 and 1.4 petrols with 1.4
(turbo) and 1.7 diesels. also topping up the range. The
hottest of the bunch howev-er was the 1.6 16v 125bhp GTi which was labeled by people in the knw as the best hot hatch from VW
since the first Golf GTi, a huge accolade for a car
of its type!TUNINGThe VW
tuning scene is hugely
popular and some eager greasemon-keys have already got their hands
on some new UP!s,
what do you think?
