Now let us drill down a bit deeper...

Million Dollar Question:
How many friends, colleagues, co-workers, executives of corporations to owners of smaller businesses do you know who would make excellent Rotarians and, thus, would “Enjoy Rotary and change lives?”
![Page 18: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
However, potential members cannot attend our Rotary meetings
when we traditionally hold the meeting?

Let’s ask the question another way:
How many potential Rotarians attended your meetings, as guests and showed an interest in joining Rotary, however, when it came to becoming a member they informed you that they just cannot attend your meetings when you hold then?
Or they joined your club and soon dropped out due to job reassigned or schedules that made attending your meetings impossible?
![Page 20: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
In the past....
We lost those members!
Now...
There is an alternative available....
![Page 21: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
The Alternative..
Direct these members, who would otherwise be
lost to Rotary to the
Rotary E-Club of District 7250
![Page 22: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
A little History
In 2001 the Rotary International Council on Legislation adopted resolution 01-226 to provide for cyber clubs. In June 2001, Decision 348, the RI Board agreed to support a pilot project establishing cyber Rotary clubs.
![Page 23: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Key Elements For this pilot project were:
To extend Rotary to business,
professional, and community leaders
who are unable to meet traditional attendance requirements because of:
1). extensive travel, or
2). conflicting occupational demands, or
3). physical immobility, or
4). resident beyond reasonable distance from an
existing Rotary club.
![Page 24: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Purpose
Web communities in this project would:
1). Foster Friendship and
2). Good Will
among its members and
pilot clubs would determine the viability and effectiveness of a cyber Rotary club framework.
![Page 25: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
A missing ingredient:
• From reports and conversations with other E-club presidents, the president of the Rotary E-Club of District 7250 learned that the more successful E-clubs have had Past District Governor direct involvement by transferring their membership to the respective E-clubs.
• This is lacking in our case. Hope this can be changed!
![Page 26: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Serious Request
• We are thus requesting that the District Leadership encourages as many PDGs as possible to transfer their membership to the Rotary E-Club of District 7250 and also
• Bring other interested Rotarians along who otherwise cannot attend regular meetings.
(A Rotarian can only be a member of one Rotary club).
![Page 27: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
Reality Check
• Chartering a new Rotary club, regular or E-club, in not an easy task.
• We have a chartered Rotary E-Club in the district.
![Page 28: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
![Page 29: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
Positive Feedback:
We get positive feedback from members and visitors. The following comment is typical:
“Thank you for the opportunity to do an online make-up via your E-Club’s web site. I found many interesting thing about your club and your views of the Rotary world.”
![Page 30: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
District & Clubs’ Support• We are anxious to get district and club support
to help us grow our membership.• We are not trying to “raid” a single Rotarian from
existing Rotary clubs.• We need “your help” in identifying interested
potential members and Rotarians, who did not stay in your club, because of other commitments while your club meets.
• Please encourage such potential members to visit us at:
www.RotaryEClubLongIslandOne.org
![Page 31: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)
What is an E-Club?
Rotary E-clubs are Rotary clubs that meet electronically.
![Page 32: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
What is the difference between Rotary clubs and Rotary E-clubs?
Rotary E-clubs follow the same policies as all Rotary clubs. The key difference is that an E-club conducts its weekly meeting on the club’s web site. Rather than being physically present at an appointed day and time, members may attend meetings at any time and any day of the week.
![Page 33: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
Explanation of E-clubs continued
As all Rotary clubs do, Rotary E-clubs meet weekly, perform service projects in local and international communities, support ‘The Rotary Foundation,’ and enjoy fellowship among members.
And the key to their effectiveness are also the same: service-minded members, opportunities for fellowship, and strong leadership.
![Page 34: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
How do E-clubs work?
E-club meetings are hosted on a unique web site.
The Rotary E-Club of District 7250 address is:
RotaryEClubLongIslandOne.Net
![Page 35: A Rotary Opportunity](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062423/568146af550346895db3ca2e/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
How do E-clubs work?
The official meeting time is considered to be when the Web Administrator posts material for weekly discussion, but members may access the site at their convenience at any point during the week.
The Rotary E-Club of District 7250 posts the meetings Sunday mornings at 8:45 A.M. and the material is available until 8:44 A.M. the following Sunday.
