Important Information about Spywareand other Third Party Software

Due to the increasing global rates of online fraud and identity theft, we are sending you this message to inform you of the potential dangersof certain free Internet software and services.

Many companies on the Internet offer free services such as browsersearch toolbars and Internet acceleration. The use of these servicesoften requires installation of software and changing of your browsersettings. This may allow these companies to collect information yousend through the Internet, which could include your online bankingpassword or a credit card number!

Because of the potential danger these services pose to onlinetransactions, we have made changes to our online banking system. The system attempts to detect certain well-known services that maycollect this information, and will prevent you from logging in if they are detected. However, being able to log into online banking is not aguarantee that your computer is safe.

Only you can keep your information safe from these companies. If youinstall or use these free services, you should carefully read the terms andconditions before using the service. You should also install and maintaincurrent virus protection, and consider using a so-called 'spywareremoval' program to detect and remove harmful services.

Please remember, Sanford Institution for Savings is not responsible forthe security of your home computer, and we cannot be held liable fordamage resulting from using these services. We are concerned with thesafety of your personal information, and we ask for your help inkeeping your account secure.
