given, and worst of all, the graduationceremony will not include them. It’s not too late NOW to ensure this won’thappen by staying on top of your childand their progress.

Finally, the other painful experience I sometimes have with seniors and theirparents involves “pranks.” I cannot distinguish between what some might call a “prank” and another would consid-er vandalism. Thus, I urge parents to alert your senior to be smart and notjeopardize their ability to participate in our graduation ceremony atMerriweather Post Pavilion.

Most importantly, spring of the sen-ior year is a time of celebration for sen-iors, but unfortunately that also means inour community many parties and oppor-tunities for drinking and drug use occur. We recently had an incident involving anintoxicated student at an event and thatstudent’s comments while being ques-tioned, are almost chilling. This studentquestioned why his/her drinking andintoxication should be an issue of con-cern at all. “I’m 18 and I attend manyparties where parents serve me alcohol,”stated this student. Wow! Out of themouths of babes comes the very rationaleI have used for many years as to whyserving alcohol to minors is so very dangerous. We condition them to usealcohol regularly at social events eventhough they do not possess the maturityto handle situations responsibly and safely. So please, let’s all be cautious and vigilantwith our teens this spring.

I look forward to a wonderfulspring for everyone. Good grades, passing scores on the HSA exams, andgood behavior ultimately makes everyonea winner. Please don’t hesitate to giveme a call or shoot me an email if I mightassist you in any way.
