Michelle Leichty It’s April, spring is here and a new Elk year has begun. I am honored to be elected as Exalted Ruler for the 2016-17 year and consider it a privilege to serve our lodge in this capacity. We have a great group of experienced and dedicated officers and I am confident we will work together to continually improve our lodge. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Michael Nicolella for his past year of service as our lodge’s Exalted Ruler. We hosted quite a few events in March. Linda Hildebrand does a great job of bringing a variety of entertainment to the Grill Room including Around the World night. Last month was Ireland in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Clever menu and drink specials always make this evening enjoyable. The Entertainment Committee hosted Trivia and Name that Tune nights, always fun. If you haven’t attended any of these events in the past, please watch the calendar and join in. It’s always a great time and a great way to meet or share a laugh with fellow members. Our annual Charity Ball was held last month. Proceeds from this event were donated to Elks National Foundation and Home Service Program. Great charities. We had a good turn out with approximately 100 in attendance. Thanks to Michelle Larson, Missi Roberts and Billie White for making this event such a success. A special thanks to Chef Jody for preparing an excellent dinner and to all the businesses and individuals who donated. Next year I would like to see our attendance for this event double. Plan on attending, I guarantee you will have a great time. Our Elks motto is Elks Care, Elks Share. Last year our Lodge donated over $12,000 to charities. This money is raised from various special events such as the charity ball and from activities at the club. By attending these functions and frequenting the club you are enabling us to support our community and achieve one of the most important obligations of Elks, charity. A complete listing of our past year charitable donations is posted in the hall outside of the Grill Room. Please know that I, along with the rest of the Governing Body, welcome your suggestions and comments. Our goal is to uphold the integrity of the Elks organization while providing our members with a safe, friendly and pleasant environment. The best way we can achieve our goal is to know and realize what our members would like to se. I look forward to seeing you at the lodge soon and thank you again for this opportunity to serve as your Exalted Ruler. Sincerely, Tom Olzer

Our annual Charity Ball was held on March 12th and what an evening it was! It certainly lived up to its name, An Affair to Remember. The ballroom was beautifully decorated, with the florals donated by Washington Square Flowers, Larry Jones. A special thanks to the Ball Committee, Michelle Larson, Missi Roberts and Billie White. These ladies worked tirelessly to create a memorable evening for all those in attendance. Larry was also a member of the Ball Committee and the honorary emcee for the evening.

Chef Jody prepared a delicious meal of homemade Wedding Soup, Salad, Bourbon Beef, Shrimp Scampi and all the trimmings. Signature desserts from Castle Shannon provided one of their most popular desserts, Cheesecake topped with fresh fruit. It is easy to say that no one left hungry!

After dinner, The Fugatives entertained all with their music. The dance Floor stayed full all night! Chinese and Silent auctions allowed our guests to leave with special gifts and memories of the evening were captured by photographer, Russell Culbertson.

A sincere gratitude and round of applause to all those who attended, sponsored and supported this noteworthy cause. The success of the evening is due to the overwhelming support received from our guests. The evening would not have been possible without you. Thank You!

Proceeds from the Charity Ball are being donated to the Home Health Service Program and the Elks National Foundation. Both of these charities provide services to our community supporting programs for veterans, the elderly, the less fortunate, those who are need for medical assistance and our nations youth. This year we are proudly donating over $2400 to these charities. A great accomplishment! Thank you!

We hope to see more of our members join us next year. It is a beautiful night for a beautiful cause!

Thanks once again!
