HOSTELS

SSET has well furnished hostels for boys and girls at the college campus itself. The ladies hostel can accommodate 450 students on twin and three sharing basis. Boys have two hostels, one for juniors and another for seniors. 650 boys are provided admission in the two hostels. Hostels are under the direct control of the management and no case of indiscipline or ragging will be permitted at the hostels also.

CAFETERIA, BANK, ATM, CLINIC, BOOK STALL

SSET has a modern cafeteria at the campus to provide excellent food to the students and faculty. A branch of the Union Bank of India along with an ATM also is there at the campus. A clinic and a co-operative book store also are provided at the sprawling building at the entrance to the College.

HOW TO APPLY

All admissions are done only at the Corporate Office at Prathap Nagar, Muttom, Aluva. Procure application and prospectus from our Corporate Office by paying Rs.750/- in cash or by DD and submit the filled application on or before the prescribed date. Attested copies of all available certificates and entrance score card should be submitted along with the application at the Corporate Office. You can apply online also. See the website for details.

List of selected candidates will be published in our notice board at the Corporate Office and in our website within a week of completion of the selection process.

SCMS CENTRE FOR RESEARCH & INNOVATION IN ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY

Faculty and students are encouraged to actively involve in research projects that have a social impact. Research also plays a critical role in enhancing the level of learning in class rooms as it helps the faculty update their knowledge.

CENTRE FOR SUSTAINABLE WATER TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT (CSWTM):

The CSWTM was established in 2009 in a strategic collaboration with the UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES RAVENSBURG - WEINGARTEN, GERMANY to take up research initiatives in water and waste water management. The Centre has made serious interventionsto address critical water related issues in the nearby Panchayath. The students are encouraged to come up with possible solutions for specific problems and are ably guided by faculty. As part of the collaboration with the German University a team of faculty , scientists and students spent two weeks at the German campus on a workshop to get trained in the latesttechnologies for water and waste water management. The next team of students are to visit the German University for advanced training in water technology for three months towards the end of this year. This will stand them in good stead when it comes to placement on graduation.

The strategic collaboration with the German University also offers students the option to pursue their Masters programme at the German campus.

INDUSTRY INSTITUTE COLLABORATION :

SSET has established collaboration with some of the highly rated corporate houses in engineering and technology to ensure that students are trained and are equipped with the right skill sets to meet modern industry requirements. M/S HARITHA TECHSERV Ltd, a constituent of the prestigious TVS GROUP has established a RESEARCH CENTRE FOR PRODUCT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING at the campus to train students on product design, manufacturing processes, reverse engineering etc. The best student performers stand a bright chance of getting placed with the TVS Group for internships and final placement.

WIPRO MISSION 10X :

WIPRO has entered into a strategic collaboration with SSET to train budding engineers on various aspects of hardware and software skills.

SCMS School of Engineering & Technology (SSET) is one among the first ten new generation engineering colleges established in the self-financing sector in Kerala in the year 2001. With an annual intake of 660 in six branches of engineering, 174 full time faculty members, 95 technical and support staff, SSET is one of the largest engineering colleges in the State.

BASIC BRANCHES IN ENGINEERING

An institution can be called an engineering college only when it has basic engineering branches like CIVIL, MECHANICAL and ELECTRICAL as part of its academic activity. SCMS Engineering College was the only new generation engineering college which started with the basic branches and then added three more streams viz. ELECTRONICS, COMPUTER SCIENCE and AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING.

HOW WE MAINTAIN QUALITY

Discipline at the campus and hostels is the key to quality in an academic education. At SCMS GROUP, management ensures absolute discipline at the campus and hostels. No type of indiscipline will be tolerated.

MOST PREFERRED ENGINEERING COLLEGE

SSET was the most preferred engineering college for students and parents of Kerala over the last several years according to the State Entrance Commissioner.

PLACEMENT

Placement norms have undergone drastic changes now. A pass in the examination will not help one get placement. Companies insist on 70

percent marks for 10th and 12th standards and 65 percent for B.Tech. 75 percent is insisted by some companies without any backlog in any paper. Those students who fail to attain the above cannot hope for getting placed at the campus selection process. Remember, failure to get campus selection will result in your remaining jobless. So the students have to be extremely careful in their studies.

ADMISSION

All admissions at SCMS GROUP are centralized at the Corporate Office at Prathap Nagar, Muttom, Aluva, Cochin. Contact Admissions Director / Counsellor for details. Admission at SSET is purely based on merit. Marks obtained at the Plus 2 level and the score obtained at the State Entrance test are taken into consideration for B.Tech. admission. Appropriate weightage is given to plus 2 marks of different systems in arriving at the merit of a candidate.

NO CAPITATION

SCMS GROUP is run on certain social philosophy in which capitation has no place. We do not accept capitation in any form for admission in our institutions. Make sure you do not fall into the trap of anyone who promises admission in SCMS Group of Educational Institutions for a price. You will be cheated.

HANDS ON TRAINING ON CNC MACHINES :

The Machine Shop at SSET is equipped with state of the art CNC Lathe and CNC Vertical Machining Centre. Students of Mechanical and Automobile streams have the opportunity to get hands on training on these machines.
