“I AM A DREAMER” is a children’s leadership book that focuses on the divine purpose and potential of young children as God intended for them. It is written for children ages seven (7) through twelve (). This book teaches children that they are full of potential. They learn that they have the potential to fulfill all of their dreams.

This book is very interactive in that children participate in self-initiated artistic activities and projects. Special features of this book include, a short story about a national hero and a world leader. It also focuses on a Biblical character whose godly lifestyle revealed great character, courage, faith, love, perseverance and a willingness to live a life of purpose, thus, fulfilling his potential.

The book is designed to assist parents, teachers, children’s church directors, community leaders, and other significant adults who are involved in the lives of children, to more effectively mentor them into their purpose. It gives adults the opportunity to assist with awakening

and developing the potential leader that is hidden within children. An adult leadership facilitator is needed to monitor children’s progress as they read through this book and complete the various leadership exercises. We wish to encourage each adult to commit to helping at least one child to become the leader God intended him or her to become.

This book is based on the insightful teachings of Dr. Myles Munroe, renowned, Biblical scholar, preacher, teacher, writer and Senior Pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries International, Nassau, Bahamas.

The “I AM A DREAMER” leadership learning activity book is a chapter taken from a soon to be released children’s leadership book designed for a children’s leadership mentoring programme. All of the principles in this book are necessary for the deployment and maximization of the full potential of God’s original creation, our beloved children.

Take for instance Walt Disney; he was a modern-day dreamer who never gave up on his dream. Today you

This was just the beginning of many animated classics that the world would come to experience and enjoy. Walt Disney didn’t stop there though. He had an even bigger dream to create a

safe, clean, fun-filled place for families, especially for children to enjoy. He dreamed of an amusement park designed with exciting rides and funactivities for the family. This dream came true in with the opening of Disneyland Park, which highlights Mickey Mouse and many of Walt’s cartoon creations. Today Walt Disney is considered to be a legend of the 0th century. He didn’t let his past failures or his lack

of money keep him from dreaming. His name alone now represents the ideals of imagination, optimism, creation and success, but it all started with a dream. Now we can see why Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it!”

You were specially designed for your purpose.

You have been equipped with all that you need to make your dream happen. Even the way you are and everything you naturally have is needed for you to accomplish your purpose. This means that your height, size, abilities and talents are all the way they are because of your purpose.

Even a simple boy like Joseph from the land of Canaan had a dream that changed the world. He met up with a lot of hardships, but he still believed that this dream was from God and that is was God’s purpose for his life. Let’s read about this young, dreamer boy:

    The Story of Joseph(Genesis 37)

Joseph, a seventeen-year-old had eleven brothers, and only one of them was younger than he was in that family. Because Joseph was one of the youngest sons, his father spent more time with him, so he became very special to him. Jacob had a special robe made for Joseph. It was very beautiful with every color you could imagine. When Joseph’s older brothers saw this they got very jealous because they thought their father liked him more since he had given him that special coat. They got so jealous they wouldn’t even say a kind word to Joseph. One day Joseph had a dream, and he decided to tell his brothers about it. He said, “You should have seen this dream I had last night! I dreamed that we were all out in the field bun-dling our wheat together into sheaves. All of a sudden, my sheaf stood up all on its own - and then all of your sheaves made a circle around mine and bowed down to it!” The brothers looked at each other in disgust, but Joseph contiued. “Then I had another dream that the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed down to me.” “Who do you think you are?” the brothers said. “Do you think that you are better than all of us? You think you are going to be the boss of us?” This made the brothers dislike Joseph even more. When he told his father about his

dreams he said, “Those are strange dreams.” But he thought carefully about what Joseph had told him. A few days later Joseph’s father asked him to check on his brothers. They were in the field quite a distance away. So Joseph went to find them. When the brothers saw Joseph in the distance, they made a plan to kill him. But Reuben the older brother said, “No, let’s just throw him into the pit - we don’t want his blood on our hands.” Secretly, he was planning to come back later and rescue his little brother. So when Joseph came to them, they took off his beautiful robe and threw him into an empty well. A little while later a group of people came by that wanted to sell some things in Egypt. One of the brothers spoke up, “Why don’t we sell him to these people, this way we never have to see him again, and we don’t have to kill him.” The other brothers liked this idea, so they sold him to the people who were going to Egypt. The rest of the brothers took Joseph’s beautiful robe and dipped it in animal blood and took it back to their father. When the father saw this he cried, “Some animal has killed my son.” And he cried for many days, so much that nobody could comfort him. Joseph was picked up by merchants who sold him to Potiphar, one of the leaders serving the Egyptian Pharaoh. While serving in his house, he was wrongly accused by Potiphar’s wife of assaulting her. For this, he was sent to prison.

American and Jamaican women relay teams. Sevatheda, Chandra, Pauline and Debbie, (the four who competed in the final race), knew they had to stay focused if they were to win and achieve their dream. The start gun blasted and off they ran. With every baton pass their dream came closer and closer. Finally, in less than seconds, anchor leg, Debbie Ferguson sped triumphantly across the finish line in first place! They had won! Their hard work and determination made their dream a reality. On September 30th 2000, these five women stood proudly as the Bahami-an National Anthem, ‘March On Bahamaland,’ was played at the Olympic Games. Today, Sevatheda, Chandra, Pau-line, Debbie and Eldece are affec-tionately called ‘The Golden Girls” because they won the coveted ‘gold’ medal. Who would have imagined that five women from a small island nation would become Olympic champions because they had a dream? They dreamed it, worked hard, and achieved it!

    The Golden Girls

Can you imagine winning the title of ‘World Fastest Women x 00m Relay Team?’ Well, five courageous, young women from The Bahamas had this very dream. Chandra Sturrup, Debbie Ferguson, Pauline Davis, Sevatheda Fynes and Eldece Clarke dreamed they could become the fastest women relay team in the entire world! But achieving this was not going to be easy. All five women athletes had to train very hard. In the wee hours of the morning, for years and years, they woke up to attend track practice, and committed themselves to a special diet to strengthen their bodies. Each had won individual races before, but coming together as a team birthed a new dream within them. These special Bahamian women athletes were determined to make their dream of becoming the world’s fastest women relay team at the 000 Olympic Games in Sydney Australia come true. Finishing first in the Semi Finals Heat, the Bahamian women x 00m relay team had successfully qualified for the 4 x 100m finals. Competing against them were the mighty
